Everyday it sells 3.3 million papers with up to 10 million reading it and has the power to make or break governments.
But is it a force for good?
This is a debate on Radio 2 right now..... _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

I once got arrested for setting fire to a pile of Sun newspapers outside a newsagents in the aftermath of the Hillsborough tragedy. It's the only time I've ever been in trouble with the law. It was worth it. _________________ The Musical Mystery Tour,

this what tony benn said on the day it came out forty years ago.
"it is appalling. A pale, wishy washy imitation of the daily mail. The product of market research without any strength or message"
i have never boycotted the sun. to do so would imply that i bought that vicious, right wing, scum, scum, scum piece of shit in the first place.

are there actually people who are arguing that it is? jesus. i'm scared.
you might argue, if you're very stupid, that it's a meaningless comic providing tits and gossip for stupid people (ignoring the lies, hate-mongering and shit-stirring). but a
force for good
?
i'd love to burn a pile of them. that must have felt good, adam. i felt like putting a brick through the window of a car that had it on the dashboard near anfield on saturday. maybe someone else did. it makes me sick that people on merseyside still buy that shit. and it's depressing to go to other places, like london, where everyone seems to read it.
most popular newspaper. what a damning indictment of this country. |

what was the question?
q: what is a force for good?
a: the sun
doesn't seem very likely.
or what is the most popular "newspaper"? which i'd have thought was common knowledge, but maybe not... |

Loads of my mates buy the Sun and when you ask them about it they acknowledge its shit but they appear to think they're buying it in an ironic way, like old men dancing to Dancing Queen at an office party or people buying the Darkness album.
I don't buy the Sun and never have done but back home I had Sky TV so my money ends up getting to Rupert Murdoch in the end. |

Dead on, John... that's the worst thing about paying a Sky subscription, knowing it's going to that ethically challenged bastard.
Oh well, at least I got people to dance to Good Life tonight! Not that I had to make them, you understand _________________ The Musical Mystery Tour,

I saw 'Outfoxed' yesterday, its a documentary Fox News, Murdochs US News channel. Some of the examples of how the station distort facts to suit their agenda were incredible, I wonder if Sky News operates in the same way?

I saw it too, it's screening at our film festival here. It's good, not news for me personally but it still made me very upset.

'tis an absolute bag of shite, and i'm dead pissed off that some people i work with still buy it even though its out to fuckin' get public servants. still on the bright side it was nice getting hold through the sun hotline last week and kidding a journo i had a story for 'em only to give 'im some polite vitriol for what they were trying to do.
however the daily mail pisses me off a whole lot more.
and adam w have a pint on me for setting fire to them post hillsboro, there has never been a more unforgiveable story. i still can't believe footie fans buy it ("for the football" indeed) and i know liverpool "fans" who buy it too.... shite. |
