thought i'd follow up on a thread from a couple of weeks back about lcd soundsystem. the track i was banging on about is called "yeah" and was released in january of this year.
lcd soundsystem is the guise under which the guy who runs dfa records records his own tracks, and it is his label's new three-cd compilation i was bigging up.
just listened to the track again now and it is 'kin incredible. if you like "weaponized" and stuff like that it is a must have:

there is also another cracking tune coming out in a couple of weeks on the skint label by alter ego. it is called "rocker" and there is a new mix on the release by a guy called eric alkam and it is called the death disco re-edit or something. it was on xfm the other night and sounds like one of the records of the year.

thanks also to whoever recommended "no yes no" by pet a couple of months back on here. picked it up last week at last and it's a quality pop single.
so much great music around - i don't understand why it requires such detective work and chance recomendations to get hold of all this stuff... |

I bought that second DFA compilation over the weekend and its absolutely stunning, there's not a bad track on there. There's a bit near the end of the second song on disc two which keeps repeating the same thing but getting a bit louder each time - it sounds amazing and changed my dull Monday night in writing Xmas cards into an exciting evening of top electro pop fun. Staying in and writing Xmas cards is the new rock and roll. |

So far I've only heard the Movement single, and I'm fucking sold I am.

I heard some songs by LCD Soundsystem today.
"Daft Punk Is Playing At My House"
is supposed to be their 'great new single' but I thought it's a bit annoying and repetitive and sounds very much like Scissor Sisters.
"Movement"
is slightly better but not too great either.
But...
"Yr City's A Sucker"
is quite cool.
Oh well. _________________

I've heard the album - it's ace in my eyes (ears?). The last track is really good - an Eno 'homage'...
Apparently.
This has just come into my head because I am listening to Trainspotting Soundtrack, but how much does Sleeper's cover of a perfectly servicable Blondie song ruin an oherwise ace CD?! _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |
