oh, I also gave 4 euro to some old guy on the street on Dec 23rd who asked me for half the price of a pint

I didn't quite have the full price, and, if someone's homeless, I'd rather they spent the money on something more useful, but I thought it was a more refreshing approach than "I need money for the bus/a hostel"

Gave:

Wall and Piece (Banksy)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1844137864
A brilliant book this - Banksy commentary on his own work is hilarious

The Life Pursuit (Belle and Sebastian)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BM2OUQ
Got a promo of this brilliant album so gave it away - but took a copy first!

Receieved:

Made In Sheffield (Eve Wood)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009I7NGC
A one-hour documentary about the birth of post-punk electronic pop in Sheffield

Moog (Hans Fjellestead)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00095L94W
A great film following Bob Moog as he retraces the steps of his early synthesizers' development by meeting the people that bought and used them - and he's a lovely bloke too

I also recommend the John Peel and Piers Morgan books - the latter was recommended by somebody on this site and I'm reading it now - very interesting and great fun.

any chance of a quick review of the b&s album, sparky? i'm going to see them live in a few weeks, but before the album is out, so it would be nice to know what to expect.

Well I'm not sure how good a reviewer I am so I made a 10-minute sampler of the album instead. Tracks on the MP3 are as follows:

(1) Act of the apostle II
(2) Act of the apostle I
(3) For the price of a cup of tea
(4) Another sunny day
(5) The blues are still blue
(6) We are the sleepyheads
(7) White collar boy
(Cool To be myself completely

It's easily better than their last album, and it's possibly their best - a soaring multi-dimensional summer pop record, one of those where could release almost all of the tracks as singles.
