OK - As a cure fan I've wated and waited but in the end I just have to say this....

How the hell did 'Head on the Door' make the top 100 but no sign of one of the best albums ever, 'Disintegration'??? Or even 'Pornography', 'Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me' or 'Wish'?

Some other top albums that don't appear on the top 100 list

Giant Steps - The Boos
Wake Up - The Boos
All Watched Over by Machines Of Loving Grace - bc
Disintegration - The Cure
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me - The Cure
Pornography - The Cure
The Trinity Session - The Cowboy Junkies
Remain In Lght - Talking Heads
Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads
Little Creatures - Talking Heads
Expecting to Fly - The Bluetones
Return to the Last Chance Saloon - The Bluetones
Science & Nature - The Bluetones
Walk Across The Rooftops - The Blue Nile
Hats - The Blue Nile
Xtrmntr - Primal Scream (I could never understand how Screamadelica gets the praise for Primal Scream over this album)
Sophtware Slump - Grandaddy
Swagger - The Blue Aeroplanes
Seven - James
Reading, Writing and Arithmatice - The Sundays
Static & Silence - The Sundays
101 Damnations - Carter USM
Vibrate You - King Adora
Mansun - Six

I can't believe "Achtung baby" missed out on a spot too. Disgraceful.

might have something to do with U2 not exactly being a British band? Rolling Eyes

which brings my attention to their 'top 5'...

01) The Stone Roses - S/T
02) The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
03) Oasis - Definetly Maybe
04) Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks
05) Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

the key member or members of three of those are the son/s of an Irish man Wink

ah you must be right! I'm certain it would have been number one otherwise!

Still amazed it didn't get a "special credit" though Evil or Very Mad

Agree totally with the Cure sentiments - Disintegration and Kiss Me were their finest two of the "big band" years, I think Wish was a bit Cure by numbers in places it was down hill after that really. I'd go for Faith as the early one.

Blue Nile, now you're talking! - definitely Hats (Downtown Lights is just brilliant)

Mansun were so underrated. Six is fantastic, it delivers everything Attack of the grey lantern hinted at.

Really like the Bluetones way back, but not listened to them for ages. I'm going to have to dig a couple of albums out now!

again, don't be surprised, when these bands aren't British, although David Byrne was born in Scotland (and raised in the US) ((thanks g00gle))

and you like The Blue Nile, The Blue Aeroplanes and The Bluetones?

what's your favourite colour? Laughing

problems, plural? The word is PROBLEM. It's a once off, thankyouverymuch Razz

And don't tell me there's no such word as thankyouverymuch. Fifty million Elvis fans can't be wrong.

Glad to hear Mansun get a mention. I was afraid the captain's appreciation society had something against them.
Always assumed it was the label who wrecked their third album cos the b-sides to "I can only disapoint U" were immaculate. Their B sides were almost as goods as the Boos, tho' rarely as experimental. Which is nought to do with British albums.
Can I put in a mention for those great unit non-shifters Gorky's Zygotic Mynci? Particularly Patio & Spanish Dance Troupe. & Messers Childs & Lawrence were responsible for 3 of the funniest gigs I've ever seen.

Hmmm.....A British Top 100. Trying to get away from the fact that I made a bit of a mistake there....can i point out that all I said was that they were top albums not on the list, not that they should be on the list!!

First Cowboy Junkies song heard: Blue Moon Revisited
Favourite song from Kingsize: Song from A Blue Room

I wouldn't have Wish in my Top 100 - but it is still better than Head on the Door! But Disintegration and Giant Steps are the two albums I always return to no matter what else I listen to. The best two albums ever.

Stone Roses is always going to be great - but everytime I hear a clip of Ian Brown singing live and realise he's absolutley tone deaf it diminishes that album just a bit....Which is such a shame.

Just bought the early Talking Heads albums remixed in 5:1 digital sound - wow! If you haven't done so recently - go watch the Stop Making Sense live concert again..... As good as it ever was!
