Hope of The States in at 39 with a rocket!
Sugababes dropped by Xmas with an appalling solo effort to follow from Heidi who will gradually wear less and less in FHM in an attempt to be taken more seriously as an
Artiste
And who the hell is buying The Automatic?!

Never write off the Sugababes, they're just going through an Arsenal style period of rebuilding but will return stronger. They've taken over Blur's mantle as the kings/queens of the comeback single. |

who the fuck doesn't own 3 lions? how is it at 10?
oh and nice that even lineker remarked that footie songs were more fun when the players were on 'em. they were and as a kid i absolutely loved this time. whilst new order is better this time is me fave england song 'cos it was all i wanted from a world cup record when i were 10.
there's always good pop out there just have phases when it charts and times when it don't.
i liked raoul by the automatic agree that monster is a bit crap though.
is nelly furtados maneater the same as the hall and oates one? |

Half the football tunes are just excuses to advert dodgy radio stations or dodgy national newspapers. However much Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst are being paid to appear in that "Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Jurgen Klinnsman" song advertising The Sun it's not worth.
Theo Walcott and Aaron Lennon - save your pennies now otherwise that will be you in 40 years time and no-one wants that.
Am surprised "Never Went To Church" didn't go in higher. |

me. It's rubbish. and World In Motion is overrated as well. England's Irie by Black Grape pisses on them all... unless we're talking about non-England songs as well, in which case, Put 'Em Under Pressure, from the days of Jack Charlton as Ireland manager and Italia '90, is tops. There was another great one as well, but the name eludes me as I go to post... |

Three Lions is great, even if I don't want England to win.
Nelly Furtado's is an original song.

I like the new Automatic single.
And I love the fact that they're top 5. It's that kind of commercial over achievement that could keep me in a job.
The new Pipettes single, 'Pull Shapes', is pretty fucking top hole pop too. It's out now on Memphis Industries. _________________ The Musical Mystery Tour,

yeah, but you like Take That
thanks for clearing up the Nelly Furtado mystery tho... I'm not a fan at all, she's a bit too skanky, but anyone who knocks that other yoke off #1 in the UK has to be praised, to some extent |

Maneater? single of the year!
...or at least in the top ten
As for world cup songs - i reckon EVERY world cup needs the following:-
1. an official song which MUST include real footballers singing/rapping on it, badly
2. a brilliant/crap renegade novelty song that the fans can actually sing (eg. vindaloo, great escape, meat pie sausage roll)
3. an inspiring piece of music that comes to define that year's tournament (eg. nimrod, nessun dorma, ode to joy)
all other world cup-related music can f* off |
