Also, the England fans can't stop talking about 1966, so it'd be horrible if they won the World Cup again! They were still selling those stupid England 5 - 1 Germany shirts in England when I was there, and some people still seem to be very proud of it like it was the best thing that has happened on the planet since 1966 - ok, it was a great victory for England but come on, it was just some meaningless friendly game years ago!! |
I thought the 5-1 was a World Cup qualifier
the same way the England 0 - 1 Germany result at Wembley was |

History repeating itself!
Liverpool at home first day of the season!
Do we still have Deano to score after 5 minutes?

Liverpool seem to be drawn away on the opening day every season
oh, and while I'm on the subject of Liverpool, I should have said in my previous message:
Germany 1 - 5 Liverpool (Owen 3, Gerrard, Heskey)
and
England 0 - 1 Liverpool (Hamann) |

i'm meant to be going to the v festival the weekend of the opening games. bramall lane's one of only 2 prem grounds i've not been to, so that's not ideal. oh well, at least it should be 3 points |

I'm with Graham Poll making a stand against having to send people off, its stupid that if you get booked in two separate games you miss the next one. Surely its in everyone's interest that the best players play in as many matches as they can.
The Australia game last night was the best of the tournament so far, I saw the Aussies play Iraq this time last year and they looked awful, Hiddink is a brilliant manager being able to turn them into a half decent team.
It'll be very odd if Juventus and AC Milan really do get relegated. |

which game is this? i remember we played there first game in 90/91 and won 3-1, after your keeper was injured or sent off or something, but i can't remember a first day game there since. are you getting confused with beating the mancs in the first year of the shiny-messed-around-kick-off-time-league? or am i getting old and forgetful? |

I thought the croatia aussie game last night was a cracker, some real tension at last, but some ridiculous refereeing. If I was to pick an upset I'd reckon Australia could give Italy a scare. Italy have a lot on their plates today with this match fixing shit, and there's always one big upset in the world cup so perhaps aussie will sneak a few goals past them on monday. As for england, well normally I'd shout for whoever was playing against them, but now I'd like to see them do well, but I can't see it happening, Sven is going to leave with his head hanging after a world cup debacle, can't see it any other way at the moment. _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

Your search - "sheffield United beat liverpool" - did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords. |

i agree. the last round of matches has been much less good because of all the rested players with yellow cards. do you think players would commit more fouls if they needed 3 yellow cards for a suspension?
does anyone know what game is on bbc1 tonight? i assumed spain would be on this afternoon, but they showed the other one. watched the first half of spain online (with very poor picture quality) before going in search of the second half in a pub. i want to watch france tonight, so it would be useful to know in advance if they're not going to be on my hopelessly outmoded terrestrial tv. |

| The Holland vs Portugal game was ace, there's nothing like a bit of comedy refereeing to liven up a game. I think players have realised that if you're going to get booked for minor things like looking at the referee in a disappointed way they may as well get full value for their yellow card and maim someone instead. |

And it makes for quite good news for the english, if they are capable of capitalizing on an understrength portugal. Clown of the night had to be Marco Van Basten though, what a fucking pig-headed muppet _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons
