I like that james dean bradfield single, the synths are a bit New Ordery. My brother says the album is a bit bland though and he loves James Dean Bradfield more than anyone else in the world so it must be true. |
the Manics already pulled the New Order-soundalike stunt on the There By The Grace Of God b-sides

"We Are The Pipettes" by the Pipettes, they were live on Radio One last night and were good. All bands should have a theme tune. |

Another Wilco one. This time - Via Chicago, live. From the Kicking Television album - best live album ever.

Well I forgot my mp3 player and todays shift is really dragging.
As I can't listen to music I can only go with the tune that's been stuck in my head for the last four hours. The King of Cheese that is the new Scissor Sisters tune.

there's nothing wrong with that scissor sisters single, but surely the real tune of the moment is the opening track from the new lambchop album.
the track is called "paperback bible" and is inspired by "the swap shop", a us national public radio show where people trade items they no longer want or need.
it's a beautiful track which makes you realise how far detached from reality you can become over here in the rat race that surrounds us.
this way of life would be regarded by most of us as a little quaint but these people sound a lot happier than most of the folks i speak to as i go about my business each day.
the brilliant www.longhaulpro.org website has a 12-minute mp3 documentary on the background to the track which includes clips of the song itself. crack open a beer and have a listen...
