but Steve McMahon only won three League titles and an FA Cup, Jamie Redknapp, at no.40, deserves to be ahead, with his greater haul of, erm, a League Cup medal

Or maybe it's coz he has 'red' in his name. Mark Walters is f##ked, then.

re: Steven Gerrard's 'autobiography' being serialised in the NOTW

isn't the NOTW just the Sunday edition of The Scum newspaper?

i wouldn't buy it, but where do you draw the line? it presumably has different staff, but the same ownership. most people don't have a problem with sun tv (ie sky), although i won't buy that either (more because of the way they use their power to fuck around with kick-off times).

clearly someone at lfc has decided that notw is ok, as michael owen had a column in it while he was at liverpool without getting too much stick. i read somewhere that owen's agent had defended this on the grounds that some of the hillsborough families had sold their story to notw.

i can't say that this episode has done gerrard any favours reputation-wise. why does he need to write a book? i'm sure if his interviews are anything to go by it will be deadly dull, and he hardly needs the money.

football autobiographies are usually a bit crap aren't they. I did enjoy the robbie fowler one though. Paul Merson's book about the year he joined villa was alright aswell.

DARLINGTON

I lived there for a bit....well, 20 years and a bit. Apparently though, we are going for straight promotion this year (no messing around struggling to make the play-offs), and we are splashing money about like nutters.

I almost believed the hype until we got stuffed 4-1 by Boston last week........

I blame George Reynolds (again).

C'mon Liverpool! Please let Kuyt and Bellamy be any good, I can't remember the last striker who we signed who actually turned out to be worth the money, possibly Collymore in his pre-dogging days.

I liked Karl Heinz Riedle... you'd nearly forget he ever played for Liverpool
