We've signed Lucas Neill, if we can snap up Ben Thatcher in the next 24 hours we'll have the worlds angriest team. |

Liverpool bid for Neill rejected, says BBC site
I don't get how Pennant keeps getting included as a thug... he's been done for drink driving, not stamping on players' heads, as far as I'm aware
I'd rather Neill didn't come but I won't mind who comes if the title is back home in May |

is he actually any good, apart from being an ankle-breaker of great skill?
obviously driving while drunk is a much less serious. |

I never said drink driving wasn't serious
but no one called Tony Adams or Jan Molby a thug... actually, let's just say Jan Molby
wasn't there talk of Barcelona wanting Neill, after a supposed great World Cup showing? of course, as soon as Liverpool express an interest, you see Man U and Everton fans across the 'net telling everyone how shit he is
speaking of Neill... Neil Mellor is now a Preston North End player... and Pongolle's gone off on loan for a year to some Spanish side I've never heard of
looking a bit thin up front now, with only Bellamy, Crouch, Fowler, Kuyt, Garcia and Kewell to choose from |

i can't remember anything of neill from the world cup apart from an italian falling over him for the last minute penalty.
i think kuyt, bellamy, crouch and fowler is quite a decent line up of strikers. maybe that's what you meant. kuyt was really good on saturday. |

there was a touch of sarcasm in my comment...
Kuyt did indeed look like he won't need time to adapt to the Premiership... fine set up for Bellamy's wrongly disallowed goal, too
didn't Brazil take their time to break down the Australian defence, as well as the Italians? hmm |

Dirk Kuyt is already my third favourite Liverpool player of all time. He should retire now as he'll never live up to my expectations.
Lucas Neill is alright but is always likely to get booked or sent off because he puts in at least one stupid challenge a game. We could do with cover at full back though.
How did West Ham get Tevez and Mascherano to sign for them? |

who are the top two?
as for West Ham and the two Argentinians... is it confirmed yet? I've been looking at the BBC site messageboards the last couple of days (especially threads concerning Liverpool), and it was mostly Man Utd fans scoffing at Liverpool's recent signings and saying things like "we're going to get Tevez and Mascherano - real world class players" over and over, so, other than checking what day of the year it is, the latest argument from the (mostly) Man Utd fans is that (a) these players probably aren't that good after all, or more popular, (b) is the theory that Roman Abramovich has an interest in the company that's done the deal with West Ham and he's made sure they've not signed for Man Utd or Arsenal, which could be a laughable bunch of sour grapes and not true, but it'd be worrying for the immediate future of football if it was |

and who was it before Agger's goal against West Ham?
Tevez and Mascherano confirmed now, as permanent transfers to West Ham |

That Tevez deal is very confusing.
Did anyone else know that Bob Mould wrote scripts for wrestling matches after Sugar finished? Why did no-one tell me? This should be in the WRESTLING! thread shouldn't it. |

"If we had a 90th minute penalty in the last game of the season to secure the Premiership title, who would you want to take it?"
Rafael Benitez: "We have some good players but I think I would choose Robbie."
well, that's alright, then... just as long as it's not a 90th minute penalty in the last game of the season to get them into the UEFA Cup

yeah, that's what i thought. but we're not over-blessed with penalty takers at the moment. i think that, with 5 subs on the bench for every game now, jan molby should be brought out of retirement to cover this eventuality. i saw him at the 6-a-side masters thing yesterday and he's the size of a house now, but still takes a mean penalty. can't believe phil neal missed his. oh well, he scored the ones in rome i suppose. |

(is gerrard's record for england taken 1 missed 1? ha ha ha) |
