I borrowed 'the Perfect Spy' from the library but I'm having to surrender - the hardback is 2 and a half inches thick, i couldn't face dragging it around with me on the tube so I've been reading it sporadically ar home. shame, as it's supposed to be semi-autobiographical. better fork out for my own copy I suppose. the trouble is, people only seem to give the tv-related John Le Carre books to charity and not many of them at that -I've been perusing charity shops for weeks and so far have only netted 'the Russia House'. _________________ (and gillworm! she's so funny!) |

Been reading Lolita by Nabokov, it has a similar effect to being seen reading Mein Kampf on the train, such are the dismissive looks you get from people who assume you are some sort of deviant...but I gotta say, it's a cracker of a book, his language is just the bees knees, and the power of his imagery is amazing..gonna go on a nabokov binge for the next few months _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

I'm currently reading "Feel", the Robbie Williams book and also get similar looks from people on the train because of it. Things I've learned so far: 1) having loads of cash doesn't make you happy 2) Robbie hates Sophie Ellis Bexter 3) the original version of the song "Feel" had a rap by Ms Dynamite in. It's basically a longer version of Heat magazine without the pictures and isn't as good as I thought it'd be. |

It was number 3 in the Observers best music books ever list. And I always believe anything in list form. Plus I've read loads of stodgy thinky books recently and wanted something light and fluffy for a change.

"Playgrounds of the Gods", a journalist wants to find out what its like to be a top sportsman so he spends a week training with teams around the world - with the Flamengo football team in Brazil, with the Springboks rugby team in South Africa, with the Australian cricket, running with the Kenyan athletics team and rowing with Steve Redgrave. The best bit is when he goes three rounds with Roy Jones Jnr, back in the days when Roy Jones Jnr was really, really good at hitting people. The moral of the story is - never do boxing, its will hurt you. |

says you, who's reading 'Understanding Football - For Women'!
I'm reading John Peel's autobiography, if you must know. Only five chapters in so far, but it's an excellent read. Written just like he spoke |

Is It Just Me or Is Everything Shit?: The Encyclopedia of Modern Life
Alan McArthur
Read this recently and although a little padded and longwinded and a bit up its own ass, I particularly liked, the entry under "C"
Chuckle Brothers, The
"Disturbing"
Plus its slags off new labour and the daily mail for those who may be interested.
