The wisdom of Ashley Cole.
'The deal he offered was a £10,000-a-week increase to £35,000... His offer was a p*ss-take.
It was a slap in the face, not a pat on the back.'
'By the time José Mourinho and Roman Abramovich came to Highbury for a
thrilling 2-2 draw in December 2004, I'd already told my agents what I
wanted in terms of a new deal. They thought I'd lost my marbles. But I loved
Arsenal, couldn't imagine playing for another club and wanted to stay. "So
get me £60,000 a week and I'll be happy with that," I said.'
Everyones in it for the money except me. I'm pure. |

From Channel 4 website, Juventus aren't guilty at all apparently!
Former refereeing designator Paolo Bergamo has again proclaimed his
innocence after he was caught up in the Calciopoli storm.
A number of phone calls between Bergamo and former Juventus director
Luciano Moggi did lead to accusations that the weekly draw regarding
the assignment of referees was rigged.
However, Bergamo has insisted that is rubbish and says he has no
regrets about his conduct while in the job.
"I received phone calls from everyone, including Inter, Roma and
Milan," he said on Monday evening. "They would call me if they
needed any clarification.
"The referees were chosen with a draw which was always done
honestly, those who accused us of fixing the procedure will have to
answer to this.
"If I made any mistakes then I did so towards the referees, maybe
overestimating someone who wasn't ready yet. But I have no regrets
as I always behaved honestly.
"I have known Luciano Moggi for over 40 years. There is no reason
why I couldn't joke with him on the phone, I used to joke in the
same way with many other club officials."
Bergamo was not tried by the sporting justice system as he resigned
from his post before the tribunal got underway. "I was forced to
resign because I had no way to defend myself," he stated.
When questioned on any phone conversations he may have had with the
now deceased Inter President Giacinto Facchetti, Bergamo preferred
to stay silent.
"I have so much respect for Facchetti that I prefer not to talk
about this," he continued.
"But I just want to stress the fact that we used to discuss the
names of referees to include in the draw with all the clubs – there
was nothing wrong in this." _________________ Man is the only animal clever enough to build The Empire State Building and stupid enough to jump from it. |

If we get beat today then I'm giving up on football. Come on Liverpool! And to a lesser extent Arsenal! |

that Chelsea could do little but defend for almost the whole of the 2nd half is the only consolation I can take from today's game (they weren't that adventurous in the first half either) |

with better finishing we'd be a half-decent team. it'll get better, although it may be too late by then. |

he does have a funny name but i am fully behind the takeover. Martin O'Neill with a bit of money to spend is very exciting. Villa are playing really well right now and will only get better. Makes a change from the doom and gloom and my predictions of relegation under o'leary before he 'left by mutual consent'. thank fuck he is gone. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

the thai coup should be a warning to all football clubs who don't care where their bread comes from. where would liverpool fc be today if we'd let Thaksin Shinawatra take over the club?

Shiniwatra taking over the club might not have been all bad, we'd now be owned by the Thai Army and Anfield would be a real fortress. Did anyone see Panarama last night? I'm sure there are lots of dodgy dealings in football but that wasn't the programme to prove it. |
