McClaren ain't great but I actually feel sorry for him and actually want him to do well now if only to annoy those dickheads who were booing the team after 20 minutes yesterday. Gerrard look petrified before the Israel game and like he hadn't slept very well before the Andorra game. He should retire from international football like I have, its not worth the hassle. Everything is about money. Every write up I've read has said the fans are entitled to their boo cos they'd paid a lot of money to be there. Then Frank Lampard was moaning about having to do interviews with the press and being 'made' to do it....actually I can't be arsed finishing this rant or attempting to make it readable but the general point is that everyone involved should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Fin.

Couldn't agree more. It was weird, no sad seeing the team so scared. Normally I'm all for abusing millionaires but no point in doing that until the last few mins and then only if it was 0-0 and Ashley Cole was in possession!! - it was obvious it was going to take time to score and though the first half showed Mcs continued tactical weakness (he is a great coach but that's it) he has only been in charge a few months, got offered a job and a salary most would kill for (heck he was hardly gonna say no and be chastised as bottling it) and, frankly, we haven't got the players people think we have. Gerrard has been the only world class English player for the last couple of years and though Rooney may one day be that way he's no way near as good as Ronaldho and is struggling to change his game at international level. Its the hype that over builds expectations combined with people who, truly, know sweet fa about a game they claim to love. If yer wanna go on the piss in Barcelona you don't need to follow a team as an excuse... the whole point in being a fan is to support them and yer only lay in to the players if they haven't tried and the game is nearly over. Oh and Lampard, I can't stand him. But ignoring personalities I'd not have him in the side - the midfield nees Gerrard and purely for set pieces because we don't have much capability in unlocking good defences, Beckham. Lampard peaked for England at Euro 2004.

...giving McClaren so much abuse I felt sorry for him. They are the equivalent of the annoying bloke in the pub who insists and shouting and swearing as loudly as possible for the entire 90 minutes to prove how much they support their team and mean it, man. That sounds about right FP. It's been heartbreaking watching helplessly as the dream crumbles again but that's football.

Since renewing my season ticket in March we've lost 6 out of 7 - but if you aren't good enough you aren't good enough and you have to take it on the chin.

I have to say that watching the hilarious scenes at Elland Road this weekend makes it feel like a successful season for both of us I think!
