Fuck me, Sparky, that's amazing! How do you find things like this?

king of england by the hot puppies.
used to a solid live band boosted ten fold by a singer who's voice is superb. every time i see 'em i she reminds me of tammy wynette, if only for the soul and pronounciation. 'aving seen 'em yesterday they now seem to have a load of top new songs and the band are now stepping up to her vocals. _________________ Britain... It's not that Great! |

"Fido Your Leash Is Too Long" by Magnetic Fields, from the triple album
69 Love Songs, which does exactly what it says on the tin. _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |

Boo Radleys - "I've Lost The Reason"
One of the greatest pieces of music I have heard in my life - and if you vote before 11.30am today Gideon Coe will play it for us on his show on BBC 6 Music:

Did my one solitary vote swing it?
Today my life-saving tune shall be "One Last Hurrah" by the Do badlys.

Not just you by the sounds of things Kris, there were lots of votes for the Boos and plenty of comments read out (including mine!) and we were treated to I've Lost The Reason on the radio at 11am as a result. You can here it all here in this edited MP3 clip:

'Knocked Up' by Kings of Leon. I didn't used to like them and now I do. Give me Quiet and then Loud and then some more Quiet and repeat for 7 minutes and I'm happy.
I'm still listening to 'Foundations' by Kate Nash an awful lot even though the album is disappointing. I'm sucker for a heartbroken girl with a dodgy cockney accent. |

I have to say, the new Kings of Leon album is some solid rock music for driving too. Don't know why they are considered so untrendy in some quarters (Pitchfork et al) There are some epic rock songs on the album. I think in a parrallel universe there was a good summer, in which me and my mates drove to the beach on a hot day (30 degrees C..oooh if only) with the Kings blasting on the car stereo and a cooler of beers in the back...Fans and Ragoo are two of my fav tracks on the album. _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

Like Pitchfork I thought the Kings of Leon were rubbish up because they're younger than me, more talented than me and can grow better beards than me. But "Because of The Times" is ace and everyone is younger and more talented than me these days so I now think they are rock gods.
Tune of The Day is 'Before I Leave' by Fennesz from 'Endless Summer'. Every album should be called 'Endless Summer'.
It's an album that you really, really have to be in the right mood for but when you are it's just lovely. Listen to it tomorrow while going about your daily business and pretend you're a character in a Japanese arthouse film. If you really are a character in a Japanese arthouse film and you're reading this then listen to the Kings of Leon album instead. |
