right then bc-board kids, this idea just came to me so i'm going to run it up the metaphorical flagpole and see who salutes it. the decade is nearly over, can it really be ten years since we were all stood around in the millenium dome partying with these crazy kids?

to celebrate the end of the 00's i think we should have a lovely big poll on here. here's how its gonna work, using your brain and typing skills, fill in your answers to the questions below and then either pm them to me on here or email them to me at bcboardpoll@lowlifeopinions.com

1. top 10 tracks of the decade
2. top 10 albums of the decade
3. top 10 martin carr tracks of the decade
4. top 1 martin carr album of the decade
5. film of the decade
6. goal of the decade
7. tv programme of the decade
8. if you were going to a 00's fancy dress party, who would you go as?
9. there's only five years to go until marty mcfly arrives in his time machine, do you think we'll have invented flying cars and hoverboards by then?

i'll compile all the votes and the winners will be announced soon. yes! if you have posted on here during the past ten years you are morally and legally obliged to join in, even if you were just a spambot posting links to porn websites. get involved.

Surely by 'pointless' you mean 'incredibly important'? Actually, just post your answers on here, that'll be easier won't it. Everyone is still legally obliged to get involved though.

i like breaking laws (well minor ones!) so i kinda want to do it but that would be law abiding - what should i do?

tunes of the decade obviously longcuts "quiet life" and m83s "teen angst".

possibley 8 others out there...

I'm sure he meant like the gameshow Pointless, where being pointless is desired

Aaaw you guys, John went to the trouble of setting up an email address and everything only for you all to rebel Rolling Eyes

Anyways, I always find lists quite important, as i use them to inform my next buying decisions, so there Very Happy

Lets not forget a "list of 2009" thread, i think this year has been f**king incredible. I haven't bought so many albums since i was 18 and thought a Student Grant was all the riches in the world.

oh you
my mind pictures
this weight...
all watched over...
june
jerusalem
we are the black serpent choir

light on the river is ace too. the world needs more short songs

4. top 1 martin carr album of the decade
advertisements for myself

5. film of the decade
erm....really can't think of one...jerry mcguire came out last decade didn't it...i really can't remember anything i've seen in the past 10 years...saw 'up' last week, that was alright but lost its way a bit half way through...maybe lost in translation?...yeah, lets go for that but it probably isn't.

6. goal of the decade
probably one of the ridiculous ones ibrahimovic scores on youtube when no-ones looking. lets say that one scored where he beat 10 people, oh no hang on, thats not the one. definitely that one grafite scored for wolfsburg last year against bayern munich. beats 27 people and backheels it in from 10 yards out. all other football matches should have been called off after that, perfection had been achieved.

7. tv programme of the decade
either curb..., the wire, sopranos or peep show. I'll plump for the wire

8. if you were going to a 00's fancy dress party, who would you go as?
i'd go as jon and edward from the x factor when they were dressed as britney spears

9. there's only five years to go until marty mcfly arrives in his time machine, do you think we'll have invented flying cars and hoverboards by then?

hoverboards have already been invented but the inventors have been kidnapped/killed by people from tradional skateboard companies who fear it will destroy their companies. i intend to spend the next decade making a film/book/musical exposing this scandal.

I like the way that you made up the rules for this thang, and then you're scuppered by your own 1-TV-show-only rule...

Seeing how you've kinda picked four great shows, I'll also add that Battlestar Galatica was my second choice after The Sopranos. Curb obviously is ace too.

film of the decade

goal of the decade
Hated Swindon for years so with Christmas just days away the perfect present seemed all ours, 2-0 up at the county ground with less than 10minutes to go…. Then Swindon scramble home 2 goals the last of which just as the stoppage time board goes up. Poetic justice for the Swindon fans to the left who we’d had a good afternoon taunting, not being able to face their glee I made me way to the exit only for one of the players to go flying into one of ours, get sent off and from there we punt the ball up 60 yards, and as the home fans are still singing “2-0 and you fucked it up” Marino Keith brings the ball down and coolly slots it under the keeper. Que absolute bedlam, the away end goes so mad, so old skool mad, that sky news showed the celebrations all Saturday night and even though yours truly appears like on the screen like a twat of a monkey on speed, I watched it all night long laughing as mrs ttlc told me to grow up! Honest even two lots of title clinching goals in three merry seasons never compare to that single moment of joy… I’ve never enjoyed any goal as much since, truly the hold grail of winning goals!

tv programme of the decade
well its gorra be anything presented by either danny dyer or harry hill… tough choice between the two but tv burp shades it.

if you were going to a 00's fancy dress party, who would you go as?
well ya wouldn’t want me going as Paris Hilton though it would empty the kitchen if I turned in clobber like hers, nah I’d go as me-self I’ve plenty of star quality…

there's only five years to go until marty mcfly arrives in his time machine, do you think we'll have invented flying cars and hoverboards by then?
Personally I hope we ‘aven’t inveted flying cars but that we kid Jeremy Clarkson that we have, get him to test drive one off the white cliffs of dover and roar on as the fucker falls into the channel.

And ‘cos I’ve gigged like no other decade…
Top 10ish Live bands
The Longcut
Lcd Soundsystem
Rapture
!!!
Kyte
Maps
Twilight Sad
Radio 4
Stellastarr*
Interpol
The Notwist
Simian Mobile Disco
Asian Dub Foundation
With local mentions to my fave Bristol bands of the decade the fauns and the nova saints.

As the nineties was nearing its end, I was drinking with a colleague. A bloke probably 10-15 years older than me. I liked him, amongst the culturally inept people that surrounded me he was a bit smarter, into things outside of tv, drinking and the daily mail, he’d maintained his dudeness. We always talked music but he surprised me a little by saying that as he got older, his main fix was film. To be fair he loved music but he said it never had the profound, deeper, moving emotions that a really decent film could have. I understood what he meant, I didn’t agree. And even when I watched lilya forever and left a cinema fighting back the tears from the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever watched, and I realised then just how deep an impact a film could make, I still do music more, I still love music more. Its still my favourite fix, my fave past time, my fave thing to switch off to. So to Martin, to Sparky, to Mixedcases, to all you wonderful n talented musicians thanks for being a light throughout this decade, keep it coming in the next and to any of the tight bastards who never spend on music just constantly and singularly download for free, loosen up, pay some respect and just sometimes find that 79pence a song, its an art form worth funding and when I see the prices of footie or even of a pint, its fuck all really ain’t it.

Happy new decade y’all.
