Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

Just thought that I could share this with you... This one's surely one of the best books I've ever read! It's written by Douglas Adams, you know, the guy who also wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy... I think that Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is even better though! It's a hilarious book, there are not that many books that have made me laugh so much!
I'm not going to tell you the plot - you wouldn't understand it anyway... If you have read any books by Douglas Adams earlier, you know what I mean... Has anyone here read the book?

It's a shame that he won't write any books anymore...
R.I.P. Douglas Adams Crying or Very sad

"He turned round slowly, like a fridge door opening..."

I beleive that is a line from that book, or the sequel.

Yes, I read it a few months ago when I borrowed it from the school library on the strength of the Hitch-hiker books. And I liked it so much that I went and bought all three Dirk Gently books from WH Smiths (they were on a "3 for 2"). I just started reading the second one, "The Long Dark Teatime Of The Soul", and it looks like it's going to be even better than the first!

Must say though, I thought the Electric Monk is by far the best character EVER.
Pizza for everybody!

I liked the horse... Rolling Eyes

I haven't read "The Long Dark Teatime Of The Soul" yet... Did Douglas Adams write any other books?

Hitch-hiker series
Hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy
Restaurant at the end of the universe
Life, the universe and everything
So long, and thanks for all the fish
Mostly Harmless

Dirk Gently series
Dirk Gently's holistic detective agency
The long dark teatime of the soul
The salmon of doubt (the unfinished DG story Adams was writing when he passed away. Also contains some other short stories.)

I'm sure there are more but those are the ones in my collection.

I didn't know that Douglas Adams was only 49 when he died. Crying or Very sad
Yeah, he was writing that book you mentioned when he passed away, but he was working on the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy movie... I guess we're never going to see that now. Sad And I'm not really sure if I even want to see it anymore... No one else than Adams himself couldn't make the movie. Heh, Lord of the Rings surely was an easy one to make, compared to Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy!
