I'll agree with that. Also an honourable mention to the "Saucy Haulage Ballads" EP by Half Man Half Biscuit.

Single of the year: "2nd Amendment" by Easyworld.
Album of the year: "1" by Simple Kid.

Has any band ever split up when they're still at the top (commercially and artisitically)?

The Jam?
Everything Weller has done solo is rubbish. He's the Eric Clapton of his generation.

The Smiths, maybe?
For Morrissey see above!

I suppose the Sex Pistols did too, in a way.
Nirvana too, although not in the same sense.

Oasis should have split up after Definitely Maybe, it's been the law of diminishing returns ever since.
I remember at Glastonbury 1995, I'd been watching Massive Attack who were fantastic. I wandered to the main arena to see what Oasis were up to. They were just announcing their new single and proceded to launch into Roll With It..... Oh dear. A real anticlimax.

The best bit of the Oasis set was that during one of the songs this 10 foot Anubis with glowing eyses started walking through the crowd Evil or Very Mad
Two of my mates were tripping merrily on Purple Microdots and this thing kind of freaked them out slightly Twisted Evil
The rest of us were shouting "It's a puppet!"
They still had to check the next day that they had actually seen it.

As I remember the Boos played that year on the main stage at about 5 in the afternoon, the sound was awful and Martin looked pretty pissed off with the whole thing. Sad
Nice hat though!

Actually,
I'm listening to Let It Be Naked and I've decided The Beatles did too.

TO be honest they all went the "Weller way" after this, with the odd notable exception.
Even one of George Harrison's finest moments "All Things Must Pass" was originally recorded during the sessions for this album (check out the Bootlegs).

D'you know...
I was thiiiiiiiis close to buying "Final Straw" by Snow Patrol yesterday, but then a certain copy of "101 Damnations" by Carter USM caught my eye. Which is no bad thing at all! Laughing

I've only ever heard "Spitting Games" by the Snow Patrol, but I would like to hear more. Especially as I loved frontman Gary Lightbody's albums with the Reindeer Section. "Son Of Evil Reindeer" is an absolute 100% classic. Very Happy

Melz.

i saw snow patrol a few weeks ago - they played round the corner from my house. there's something about them i've always liked. there is a track called 'chocolate' on their album which i can listen to over and over. one of those simple songs that you instantly feel like you've known all your life. anyway, snow patrol were great, the singer is a right nice guy. i would compare their album to the first electric soft parade (big boo radleys/bravecaptain fans) album. however, i saw esp in the same venue the following week and they were only two thirds as good as snow patrol.

also, i saw british sea power last week which goes straight into my top five gigs of all time. a remarkable show. i would urge everyone who can to catch them live now. they're on the cusp of greatness.

the new esp record is quite good on first listen. Definately see the boos influence especially in the title track with the different sections 'n' stuff.

nice
and

Short albums are definitely the way forward, most albums have way too many songs on, especially hip hop ones. Albums with more than 10 tracks on should be banned.

I know Faris Nourallah.
He was the other member of Nourallah Brothers.
Good to know he's still making music.
