Must say I've been wanting to register on here for ages. Been reading it for a while. So anyway, Hello to you all.

I'll get the cliches out of the way early doors, always loved the boo's right from the start (2 copies of Ichobod and I sit on my shelf indeed) and have been tracking the brave captain's solo stuff for a bit. Been listening to Advertisements for myself and it is growing on me I must say.

I've also been reading the Giant Steps 10 year mini website thing and it has brought so many memories back for me of that time and earlier. Cue ramble :-

Me and my friends from Donny used to go to as many gigs as we could. We would often turn up at weird and wonderful places that they happened to be playing. Heck we probably looked like sad geeky fan boys but always ALWAYS got a friendly welcome from Martin, Tim et al and of course Mark Bowen - T-shirt seller now Wichita honcho.

This was all before Giant Steps of course. Places I remember are Duchess in Leeds, Leadmill, Rios in Bradford, Aldephi in Hull. At the time it sounded like heavy metal to me. Was truly ace. You never felt this way about Chapterhouse eh? We also saw them support loads of ace bands, Dinosaur Jnr, Sugar, My Bloody Valentine, The Pixies. Yip Yip Hooray.

Anyway, Sorry if this is disjointed, I'm just writing what is coming off the top of my head. Here are some random thoughts.

I'm currently doing a part time course in American Literature at York University. I owe my interest in such things to Mark Bowen and Martin who both lent me books by Brautigan, Bukowski, Burroughs. Yep all the b's. So thank-you to them.

I used to buy so many 7" singles. Tapes of these were often sent over to Mark B, we discovered so many great bands, Pavement, Archers of Loaf, Radio Wendy, Fluf, oh bugger, can't think of others. Sometime sweet susan, Thrillhammer...

Actually that reminds me of the only reason why I got talking to mark bowen - he had a Nirvana t-shirt on. This was before Smells like Teen spirit. Can you imagine these days thinking, must go and chat with a stranger just cos he is wearing a Nirvana t-shirt. Aaah those were the days.

Ramble Ramble Ramble.

What did I start trying to say. Oh yes. Looking forward to finally seeing Brave Captain in Leeds next month. Haven't managed it yet. Was due to play York but it got cancelled. Should be fun.

Those of you interested in such things should read the interview with Martin in The Big Takeover Magazine. Super magazine too.

Right I'm stopping my ramble right here. Yes.

Hello Harry.

I didn't realise all the top bands that the Boo's supported. The only time I got to see them live was when they supported Blur at Mile End, it was a great day even though the weather was a bit crap.

That got me thinking, I must have seen the Boo's about 20-30 times I think. Ichobod and I tour 2-3 times, Every Heaven about 4 times, Everything's Alright Forever about 4 times, then maybe about 8-9 times after that. Was interesting to see a great band turn into a brilliant band.

Oh and Nirvana, guess what, saw them 5-6 times too. Duchess in Leeds and loads of times on the Smells like Teen Spirit tour when they really were amazing and all the gigs were sold out.
