I'm too selfish to be a great songwriter

Shocked

Quote:
Selfish in the way that I can write really great songs that everyone likes, but I think its an easy way out so I write a bunch of stuff that people (I'm talking about my friends and stuff here) admire. But they always say 'Yeah, but I really like “Betsi's Beads” or “Comb yr Hair”.

Well this is actually the reason you have always been relevant to me. There isn't a single other songwriter on the whole planet (that I listened to 10 years ago) that still excites or interests me the way you do.

So keep on being selfish, and I look forward to this years three albums Wink

Sigh, so the captain won't be producing any albums? What about mine (if I ever get round to finishing one Rolling Eyes ) ? One the most satisfying interviews, covered hte bases really well. Plus it didn't ask those goofy questions (if you were a sandwhich, what kind would you be...etc). I'd like to be interviewed once. Just so I could footnote Carr in it, say, "If I could colloborate with one person, it would be Martin Carr."
Well I'm off! Boo up!~adam

That's a good interview He's right about NME, every article in there is "in association with our friends at MTV2" or "brought to you by Carling".

Does anyone know if the Captain has stuck to his resolution to be drug free in 2004?

nme is shite. q is shite. x-ray wotsit is shite. they r all shite. there's no humour anymore and the interviews are so far up the artists arses these days its insulting. even careless talks (which atleast covered different bands) was so far up ts rear you couldn't warm to it. bollocks to 'em all - thank feck for the web and my local indie store for providing far better recommendations on which tunes to buy.

You're right.
Music magazines these days are all utter crap.
Select used to be good and so did Mojo... that's the only one I still read every now and then. (it's not very good either)

Great interview by the way.
Interviews are normally boring as fuck, but this one was relatively interesting from the beginning to the end.

Razz Martin is our fan.
RazzRazz Martin likes us.
RazzRazzRazz Martin makes us happy.

Oh yeah, I'd better go to bed now... Confused

NME is crap these days and Q is a soft porn mag for people who can't reach the top shelf - The Sex Issue, Britney's Hottest Photoshoot ever, Snow Patrol bassist in Topless Pic's Shocker etc.

Some of the stuff in Word is well written. Actually I reckon they might be interested in doing an article on Brave Captain, I think I'll write an email to the editor today to suggest it.

Did anyone see that "fly on the wall" documentary about Shaun Ryder last night on satellite TV? He doesn't look too healthy these days.

Whats the fuckin story with nme.com? All those pop-up ads blockin anything resembling text. Its like one of those bad acid dreams when you're reaching for your favourite sweets but things keep jumping in the way.
And as for the nme itself, are kids all handicapped these days? why are the album reviews only 20 words long, its patronising and embarrasing mush a ghost of its former self, used to be good ya know!
