I've just bought myself a video capture card and have recorded my ancient VHS copy of Hanoi Rocks' All Those Wasted Years video to the PC.
I'm not quite there yet, but pretty soon I should have it in MPEG format so can burn it to SVCD or something like that.
Interested?

OH YES.
Sounds very interesting indeed, I didn't even know that you have that video! What's the quality like now after recording it on your PC, is it still OK?
Have you bought the new Hanoi album (the UK edition) yet? I hate it when they re-release albums or make those special editions, I have the original Finnish version but the UK one has 6 bonus tracks! _________________

Quality is pretty good considering I've had it at least 12 years and I bought it second hand, it's not quite DVD of course all the glitches are straight off the tape!
It actually sounds better now, as I took the sound straight from the video into the soundcard instead of messing about with sound via the composite input.
It's currently 6GB worth of AVI files but I will compress it overnight into MPEG and take it from there. It's worth having anyway as it's a great video.
I've not got the UK version of 12 shots... According to Mike Monroe when he was on BBC 6Music; the Finnish version was rush released and wasn't mixed properly. The UK version has been re-mixed as well as having the extra tracks so it will be interesting to see how it sounds.
I never ever thought I'd be talking about Hanoi Rocks on Martin Carr's forum!

OK, let me know when you've done it.
I will try to think of something I could send to you... Did I send you the Boo's live CD already? _________________

Burnt to SVCD.
There are 2 discs, one of about 40 minutes, the other 15 min. It sounds fantastic! The picture has some slight interference top and bottom, but that's just the old Video tape.
Do you have a DVD player that will play it?
You'll need MPEG2 codecs installed to play it on the PC.
If you don't have them or don't even know what I'm on about!, I'll bundle a copy of WINDVD 4 (plus crack!) so that you can watch it.
I'll need your address as I lost all my old emails a while ago when Outlook crashed.
You haven't sent the Boos live stuff _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

EXCELLENT.
Yeah, I do have a DVD player now.
I'm using a program called PowerDVD to run those.
I'm not sure if I have those codecs... maybe I do, but if I don't, where do I find them?
I have sent you my address... (check your PM inbox)
Will send you the Boo live stuff, but I also need your address. _________________
