Are there any examples of bands who were great, then went crap but then became great again? There was a documentary on TV last night about Oasis and I got all nostalgic and wanted them to be great again. It all went wrong when Tony McCarroll left.

Neil Young got a lot better after his 80's balls, as did David Bowie..... Can't think of many bands though...........

I only one I could think of Johnny Cash who was apparently not much good in the 1980's. I suppose bands get dropped these days if they lose it so never have a chance to recover.

Tom Petty, Paul Westerberg/Replacements, the Ramones, the Stones, and Elvis Costello have all gone through extended slumps. U2 are in the second suck period of their career (or maybe their only good albums are Boy and Zooropa???..........).

Liam Gallagher to form "Supergrroup" with John Squire and Geroge Harrisons Son.

There's at least two people that are way past their prime. I can't say I'm expecting much from this venture.

It can't be much fun being John Squire these days, knowing that the first album you ever made will be the thing you'll be remember for. I don't think anyone's very interested in his solo career so he may as well get involved with Liam and George Harrisons son at least he'll get some attention.

Although they're tired old men these days I reckon there's a good book to be written about story of Oasis, like that Simon Price one about the Manics.
