No problem.
I am going to see them in Manchester on Friday and have my burberry baseball cap and box fresh Nikes ready. Not sure what to expect from them live, has anyone seen them before? |

The Streets were brilliant. I thought it might be a bit shambolic and rough and ready but he really can cut it live. The stuff from the first album went down best, I'm not sure if thats cos the songs are more upbeat or just because the crowd were more familiar with them.
Plus they had optics in front of the drum kit and Mike Skinner and the other MC served spirits to members of the audience at various points during the set. If the album flops then he'll always have a career as a bar man to fall back on. |

Madness! I hadn't made that connection before but you're right.
Original Pirate Material is great, not heard the new one yet. _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

I think that the new album is absolutley fucking safe as razzle dazzle. I saw the streets last year in chicago and thought they were good. I agree with the shambolic statement. Kind of like if you weren't drunk you probably didn't get it. I got to have a few drinks with mike after and he was very kind and funny. The fact that Keane outsold this album is a fucking disgrace. Dry Your Eyes is as beautiful as anything i have heard in a very very long time. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

Although I loved it when it came out I've already got bored with "A Grand Don't Come For Free". With it being a story all the way through the album you can't really just stick on a couple of tracks. "Dry Your Eyes" will be a massive hit though.
Mike Skinner thinks "Original Pirate Material" is the 6th best British album ever.

can we be bothered to have a similar top ten on this board......... I'm not gonna start it cos it will take me a long time thinking.... _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

does everyone else read the guardian as well then?, or is it just me.
Or do you all just read it online?
Anyway, nice to see early simple minds mentioned, up to and including 'new gold dream' they were fantastic.

i only ever get the observer for observer Sport Monthly and the music magazine. The sports mag is really good but the music one isn't actually that good but there are occassionally some decent articles in there.
The free football email that the Guardian send out every day, "The Fiver", is really well written and worth subscribing to. |
