(just in case anyone cares!)
i bought quite a lot of new music during my trip, here are some of the most interesting ones and my comments!
super furry animals / phantom power
i had this one on DVD of course, with all the remixes and stuff, but i never listened to it that much since i can't play DVDs with my ordinary CD player (obviously!). i saw it for only £2.99 somewhere so i had to buy it! i'm starting to like this now, and
'sex, war & robots'
is a top song.
if tears could kill, i'd be a long time gone...
beautiful and brilliant!
super furry animals / mwng
this one's great as well, even though i can't understand anything they sing (it's all in welsh language!) a really beautiful album, how did i survive the last four years without this? y gwyneb iau.
bravecaptain / all watched over by machines of loving grace
well i will still write more about this later, but i really like this new album. i still need to listen to it a couple of times though before i can say how much i
really
like it. i'm pretty sure i like this more than afm though which is a good thing of course!
electric soft parade / holes in the wall
not a bad album at all! i was expecting something much more basic and pop, but i like this. and they mention
the mighty brave captain: martin carr
in the credits! who's steve lamacq?
beach boys / pet sounds
ok, i bought this because everyone here said that it's
the best album ever
. well, it isn't. it's good, yes, but not
that
good. sounds very much like "forever changes" by love. which isn't a bad thing at all actually!
her space holiday / the young machines
i bought this in london just after their gig actually. i liked the live stuff so decided to buy this one. i had only hear this one song before... what was it called again... 'my girlfriend's boyfriend'. (?) i always liked that one though and it was very good to hear it live too. the whole album is quite nice and relaxing and very unique, so i like it, but there's a little bit something missing. still a very good album though, i'm glad i bought it even though it was quite expensive!
echo & the bunnymen / ocean rain
finally found this! i've listened to it three times now and i like it. if only i had heard about them many years ago... well i suppose it's never too late. this is some kind of a remastered version or something with some extra shit, it's very good!
graham coxon / happiness in magazines
the best of graham's solo albums so far, but still fails to impress me. don't get me wrong, i like this album. some songs on it are excellent, but some of those are a bit boring. after all that hype i expected it to be a bit better. but i'll still listen to this a couple of times before i make my final decision.
trashmonk / mona lisa overdrive
well, it was cheap so i bought it. i know nothing about the band to be honest. in fact i had never even heard of them before i saw this. they were on creation so maybe they're not that awful. haven't listened to it yet...
the bluetones / the singles
my friend always used to talk about them and i had none of their albums earlier, so i bought this. not bad.
and then i found this gem in some small second-hand record shop in london!
"welcome to the wonderful world of ed ball"
i only had the album "catholic guilt" and some singles before this, but i liked them a lot and melz had been talking about this. someone from here sent me the song 'manchester' as well and i loved it so i had to buy this. and i like it! i've been looking for this album for ages, so the strange thing is that i actually met ed ball two days before buying this album. spooky boo! he's ace by the way and looks very much like you think ed ball would look like.

I was right. You ARE rich.
My latest addition is Bubblegum by Mark Lanegan band.
First impression is it's good but relentlessly dark - and too samey to be truly great
