(1) "the secret migration" by mercury rev
it's their best work since "deserters songs", in fact it's a beautiful, warm record covered in magic dust!
(2) "lcd soundsystem" by lcd soundsystem
territory covered in previous posts, but this double-record contains last year's big singles, "yeah" and "movement". check out the soulwax mix of their new single "daft punk is playing at my house" too.
(3) "yr atal genhedlaeth" by gruff rhys
a chirpy pop record with occassional old school beats which give it a very contemporary feel, sleeve is nice too.
(4) "i'm wide awake it's morning" and "digital ash in a digital urn" by bright eyes
haven't heard anything about it but his last one was good. |

yep,
i'll certainly be getting most (if not all) of them.
you can pre-order bright eyes albums from www.saddle-creek.com for a tenner and they'll ship them tomorrow!!!. Albums of the month in Uncut so they should be good...

i'm wondering for the folks in england ordering bright eyes albums if you get it from the US shop it should be half the price than the english price. Just a thought. It works out to be about six quid i think. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

I managed to get the Bright Eyes albums a while ago and they are pretty good. Both very different from each other, one quite introspective & folky the other "louder" and sort of reminiscent of The Cure in places.
Somebody mentioned Bloc Party on here the other day.
I blagged it their new one "Silent Alarm" the other day and am quite impressed. The singer reminds me of Adam Ant though for some reason! (Dirk Wears White Sox era)
I have also re-discovered Fatima Mansions by getting a couple of CD's cheap on Ebay. Brilliant stuff, check out Viva Dead Ponies & Valhalla Avenue if you can. I'm going to start searching out Cathal Coughlan's solo stuff now. _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

i had been meaning to post about this for a few days...
digital ash is really good. he is good at lyrics isn't he? and some nice, clean, postal-servicey type beats in there too - a good combination. i haven't bought the other one yet.
packaging is nice too. |

I'm loving the Postal Service album at the moment, brilliant stuff. Bloc Party are good too.
I saw 'Hey Colossus' last night at White Heat club in London and they were great too, nice and noisy. I've seen loads of good bands there recently, including 'Neils Children' who will definitely become famous soon I'd say. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/thelostcavalry

pah! i saw neil's children in a "super-underground indie rock" nme-endorsed shiter than shite club in sunny sunny Southend-on-Sea a year ago. they were abysmal. i think they'll be nme's "next big thing" sometime this year. utter garbage. sorry, rant over. i am enjoying the bright eyes albums, which are brilliant. but i still find myself going back to Simple Kid's album from time to time. |

Well, they're not exactly famous yet! I've seen them a few times in various small London venues like Infinity in Mayfair over the last year and I think they stand out from the rest of the bands I watch at places like that. They're probably a lot better now than they were when you saw them though, as they're still all only about 19 or so.
