Me too - I don't think a chav is really a class thing (there's a lot of wannabe-chavs) it's about not aspiring to anything beyond speeding up and down theb street in shit max-power style cars with dreadful music playing LOUDLY and shouting at all the girls. It's the huge difference between their view of their rebellious and style and the yawming reality.

Sorry, but isn't that just meaningless? Aren't we allowed any distinctions at all between 'classes' (there's that word again! I just mean types PC-peeps) of "people"?

Well in this thread there are several different interpretations of what a chav is, and some people aren't even sure what a chav is which in itself makes the term chav kinda meaningless plus its become a national term for something that usually has regional differentations.
Of course you can have your distinctions between types of people if you want them.
I think people are avoiding the term class because it is causing confusion, rather than to be PC

13. A chav walks into the local job centre, marches straight up to the
counter and said "Hi, I'm looking for a job".

The man behind the counter replies "Your timing is amazing. We've just got
one in from a very wealthy man who wants a chauffeur/bodyguard for his
nymphomaniac twin daughters. You'll have to drive around in a big black<
BR>Mercedes and wear the uniform provided. The hours are a bit long but the
meals are provided. You also have to escort the young ladies on their
overseas holidays. The Salary package is £200,000 a year".

wow! yr right, that is special. Wink

"(there's a lot of wannabe-chavs)"

How are you a wannabe of something that sounds so unflattering?
