That's kind of funny, yeah.
NME (the magazine and their website) is pretty shite nowadays and unfortunately this spoof site isn't very different from the real thing.

NME is really fucking awful these days.
All the bands and artists that have appeared on the front page of NME during the last 5 years have become utter shite. And if they've had their picture on the front page they've become worldclass cunts too. Babyshambles and Pete Doherty my arse - what a load of shite. Argh.

Just finished watching "Born to Boogie" (T.Rex) on telly. Now that is class. I taped it too so if I figure out how to put the whole thing on my computer, I can send a copy to anyone who's interested. (I might need some help with that though...!) There are Finnish subtitles but thank god they hadn't translated the song lyrics like they've done sometimes.
Marc Bolan is a fucking legend and I only just found out that Mickey Finn died 2 years ago. Sad Rest in peace, world's coolest bongo-bongo man.

I want to die too if they show remastered Babyshambles concerts on telly in 20 years though...

Idea

I love T.Rex. I had no idea Mickey Finn had died! I still feel I should correct you he was not the world's coolest bongo player because the original bongo player Steve Peregrine Took who played on the first three Tyrannosaurus Rex albums was far cooler and a much better musician. Respect to Mickey Finn for being in T.Rex but really there was only one important member since Steve Took left and that was obviously Marc Bolan. I found it a bit preposterous when T.Rex re-formed as Mickey Finn's T.Rex.

Well, I believe they're still touring even without Marc Bolan, Steve Peregrine Took, and Mickey Finn. Shocked
Mickey Finn was the bongo man during T.Rex's golden years (1971-1975), I do like their early stuff as well, but the Mickey Finn era is much better in my opinion.

I like the early hippy stuff because it's so different, it's escapism and it's a bit mad which has to be good. Of course the early seventies (especially Electric Warrior and The Slider ) was T.Rex's greatest era, I'm not denying that but it had very little to do with Mickey Finn. Mickey Finn was pretty much a prop, chosen more for his looks, whereas Steve Took was a great percussionist. So basically, Marc Bolan is God and everybody is shit compared to him but when you're comparing bongo players then, in my opinion, Steve Took wins every time. Also early T.rex/Tyrannosaurus Rex is much better than late (fat)T.Rex which was pretty sad really although the last studio album Dandy in the Underworld was cool and........ I must sound about 50.

Very Happy well, to be honest, I never really paid that much attention to the bongo men. I'm sure that Steve P. Took was just as good (or even better if you say so Wink) as Mickey Finn. Was it Steve Took who died just a year or two after Marc Bolan? Anyway... T.Rex without Marc Bolan is almost the same as bravecaptain without Martin Carr, so they shouldn't have re-formed ever. Perhaps the curse of T.Rex fell upon Mickey Finn and that's why he died.

Have all the band members died already in some tragic way? Shocked

'Telegram Sam' and 'Get It On' are both ace and I don't know which one's better. My favourite album however could be "Electric Warrior" or "Bolan Boogie" .

Yeah, Steve Took died in 1980 (I think) he choked on a cocktail cherry.

I don't know about the rest, but they do seem to be dropping like flies. I saw T-Rextacy a few years ago and the special guest was the original keyboard player (!) Smile Dino Dines who was only in the band from about 75; and I was going to say "at least he is still alive" but I just did a quick check and it turns out he died in January last year. What can you do eh?

By the way... there's huge 16-page article about Marc Bolan and T.Rex in the May issue of Mojo (the one that comes out in April, so the new issue might be out already!) just in case someone's interested. It's pretty good. Smile
