I've just finished reading, for the umpteenth time, All the President's Men, (and I dug out my tape of it to watch too!).
So I think I might be ready to read a little more about Watergate, as the book finishes before the shit really hit the fan, Nixon-wise.
can anyone recommend something that doesn't require the reader to have one finger in a dictionary at the same time?? |

Last weekend I saw a documentary called 'The Hunting of The President' about how a group of right wingers in America were out to get as much dirt about Clinton into the media as they could, right from the beginning of his Presidency, hence the Whitewater and Paula Jones scandals. Its definitely worth seeing but, as is often the case with documentaries like this, it only really gives one side of the story. All the people interviewed see Clinton as being a great guy.
In the film several people also say that the Lewinski scandal got so much coverage because journalists saw it as their Watergate, the chance to make a name for themselves. I'm never sure how I feel about Clinton, obviously everyones entitled keep their private life private but the grumpy right winger in me thinks that having a president who goes around shagging his interns can't have been a good thing.

...I bought the 9/11 Commission Report at the weekend, has anyone else here read it? Its really worth reading, especially for the details of what happened in the immediate aftermath of the attacks. |
