...what is the attraction?
If there was a magazine full of pictures of lightly dressed men I would never be interested in looking at it.
What is the attraction? It's a geniune question, not a complaint.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'VE RELEASED THE CRAZY FROG JUNK AS A SINGLE...HOW CRAP CAN SOMETHING BE?!

How crap can something be?
Paul Weller backed by Ocean Colour Scene is a good bet.
Crazy Frog held Coldplay's single off no.1 in the UK, I can see no merits in either.
I wouldn't want to look at a magazine full of lightly dressed men either, so we're on common ground there!
You should talk to my wife. She thinks the women who appear in such publications are the worst offenders, more so than the men who look at it. Her reasoning runs that men are stupid anyway so are bound to look at such things. She argues that the women should be better than that and must be really stupid to allow themselves to be degraded like that for money and recognition, perpetuating the circle started by the men. She probably has a point.
Where do the Quo fit into this, I don't understand? Granted they're probably in the same league as Weller and the Crazy Frog, although I have to admit to having a liking of Pictures Of Matchstick Men. _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.....

If photos of scantily clad ladies can be companionship...oh well.
Dubya, while I like your wife could complain about the women who agree to be in such pictures, I don't think men are stupid or uncontrolling animals who cannot help themselves.
What I do think is, as long as there are women who agree to be photographed like that it'll be more difficult for other women to decline. Say for a film, an unknown actress is requested to take her clothes off, she says 'I don't want to', they'll go 'well, byebye honey we have 1000 others who will'...so really, it's working against women overall.
However, this was not the topic of this post, I would rather want to know what the attraction is, I could never see any pleasure in this kind of sightseeing if the pictures were of men...so I am interested in knowing why you would like to look at them.
Oh, and don't include porn into the discussion because it is a bit of a different thing than just a woman standing in a bikini.

Because women are beautiful, Setareh. Why no-one else has pointed this out is rather beyond me.
I'd be interested to know what you think about women's magazines. There are more pictures of idealised, scantily-clad women in one of those [just look at the adverts] than in all of the men's magazines put together. _________________ The Musical Mystery Tour,

Yes, that is interesting. I've actually never liked women's magazines, but they're okay to read when they're free...for example at the library. I actually find some of the articles in Vogue interesting for example (I find that magazine generally better than most other women's magazines).
I can only speak for me but I go through most of the 'fashion' pages without looking. When I do look at some photos it's because nice photographs, good colors, good lighting and so on. At the same time I am critical of the fact that they airbrush everything and so on.
I cannot compare which of the magazine types have more photos of nearly naked women as I haven't ever really looked through a men magazine, only seen pages here and there.
I guess the difference would be, the aim of the women magazines are not to show off female bodies, it comes with the territory. Where as the men magazines seem to (maybe not all but stuff like FHM) have the main purpose of showing nicely figured women.
In Vogue for example there's room for older women or women with not so perfect shapes, is that so in FHM for instance? No idea.
Basically these are my thoughts on the issue.

I guess men are just
designed
to like looking at attractive girls - in real life or just in pictures. It all makes sense, biologically speaking! Men's brains are just wired-up to find attractive girls pleasing to look at... I don't know if there's much more to it than that really. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/thelostcavalry

Can you ever find any of those photos cheap? Usually they have a cheap atmosphere...

Oh, absolutely, especially in FHM and Maxim and that stuff... I'd like to point out that I don't read these magazines by the way! I did buy Maxim once at Christmas and was pretty shocked at the level of brainlessness and cheapness - far worse than the last time I read FHM a few years back. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/thelostcavalry

Never quite understood Future Music magazine emphasising thier beauty by placing keyboards in their laps but hey there is a magazine out there for everyone even if you have to give your credit card number over a non secure link to get it
i love lady bits me but this using them to sell everything is taking the fun out of the fun stuff |
