to be honest, I wouldn't think half as much of Falling Down if you took the fastfood restaurant scene out of it |

i agree, the burger restuarant is a good scene, but i also like the one were he stumbles on and passes through the golf coarse......."and now you're gonna die wearing that stupid little hat." |

If we're on the subject of violent films with pithy one liners, I watched Die Hard last night and I love the line "I guess we're gonna need some more FBI guys" when they blow the roof off the building taking their helicopter with it.
I think Die Hard's great. Corny, but great! |

well, i do like the " yippy-cay-yay" phrase from Die Hard, but i guess i like the main character off of Falling Down cuz he is'nt a good guy, he's a bad guy and the story pretty much evolves around him through-out the whole movie, which is ace! It's almost like
Face/Off
in a way, except the story evolves around the good guy like in most action films, but the reason i like Face/Off is also cos of the bad guy who is known as "Castor Troy"
actor Nicholas Cage
and not cuz of the good guy "Sean Archer"
actor John Travolta,
but i can't help it, the guy just cracks me up everytime!.........
"I'm rea-a-d--y!! Ready for the Big r-i--de b-a-a-b-y!!"

Oh, and if you ever spot it on Sky Movies or something, watch
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie
. By far the funniest thing I have seen since Monty Python And The Holy Grail. Hysterical and very, very quoteable. "Look, his legs are sticking out!" |
I love Mystery Science Theater almost as much as I love "I Luv U". They used to show it on the Sci-Fi Channel on Sky every week and for me its up there with the Simpsons, Father Ted and Roy Keanes appearances on MUTV as being the funniest TV programme in the world...ever. You can buy box sets of the TV series on the US version of Amazon without having to re-mortgage your house I think. |

It must be a good movie in order to have 6 used & new from $109.99 |
Believe me, it's that good!
I only ever saw a couple of episodes of the series when it was on the Sci-Fi channel. Very funny stuff, but I can watch the movie a thousand times and not get bored of it. And of course, now I'll never be able to watch
This Island Earth
without laughing.
Oh yeah,
Face/Off
and
Die Hard
are fantastic! _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

I saw
This Is Spinal Tap
once again last night, and it's still absolutely brilliant. The Stonehenge scene must be one of the funniest movie scenes ever!
"They were still booing him when we came on stage."

And tonight I saw
L.A. Confidential
... another brilliant film - Discy's got a good taste obviously! It's quite confusing at first, so many different names and faces and so much happening all the time, but everything's revealed in the end.

*tenuous connection*: my first job (1983) was working for a small costume hire firm in Surrey. the owner used only original clothing from the C18th onwards, housed in the former stables of a posh house.
anyway, it was a dump, full of moths and mice, which meant that when Jim Acheson wanted strange bits of tatty fabric for the screaming babies in 'Brazil', his assistant know where to come and my boss duly fetched out bits of perished net and lace. did you know that 1920s sequins are made from gelatine? add a little damp and you have quite a mess on your hands...
he also come to us for original Chinese garments for the Last Emperor, but that's another film... |

I reckon "They Live" is one of the most underrated films of the 80's -- plus it has the best fight scene in cinema history.
I would also give a thumbs up to "Dark Star", which is actually John Carpenter (King of Horror) and Dan O'Bannon's (bloke who wrote "Alien" and "Total Recall") final year student film project.
