Well said Guest.... well apart from the Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs bit
One thing the NME is good for is a real big belly laugh at least once a week.
Arctic Monkeys = 5th best British album of all time.
mwah hah hah hah

All these comments point to one thing.
The moment has arrived people.
You have got to the point where you are too old for the NME! You are no longer taken in by the bands it features, it just irritates you and you find it less and less relevant.
Face facts, t's time to start buying Q or MOJO kids! Sure, they'll feature the Arctic Monkeys but they won't proclaim them to be the best british band and debut album since Menswear or whatever.
I got to that point about 10 years ago (although Melody Maker was my thing).
I may have even gone beyond that now and would probably be more a Classic Rock man nowadays , if I bought any music mags, which I've not done for about 5 years! I tend to find all I need to know here, in other forums and by listeneing to the Radio now and then (6 Music usually).
The pipe and slippers beckon..... you can't avoid it! _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

I can't remember the last time I bought a music magazine or newspaper, it's years
er, apart from the Melody Maker I got this week with the Boos on the cover
You can see who NME have on the cover when you're in the newsagents. |

I know that and I don't know why I wrote it that way as I'm usually a bit of an apostrophe fascist! _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.....

In much the same way as Gary Barlow is. You have got to be kidding! He is a drug addled goon and it's the drug addled-ness that's made him famous not the sub-Sham 69 rubbish he's output.
BTW What's a song wirter? |
This post reminded me of why I stopped contributing to music based forums. I see you've utilised all the classic tactics of taking a quote out of context and then pedantically picking up on an obvious typo. Cheers mate, you've made me feel very welcome to the board. |

And then you might notice I got my come-uppance. No less than twice in fact!
So welcome to the board and take no notice of Mr Clever Bastard here.
There isn't a "probably not being entirely serious" smilie so it'll have to be this one.

i just got it in the post today. It's not the best album ever or anything like that but i think it is good. I like all the songs and am looking forward to seeing them in march. I also got the hard-fi album today which i was very impressed with. I think i like it better than the monkeys. my favourite album i have got this week is however distractions. i still don't understand why bravecaptain is not 'popular'. some of the tunes on this new one i could see doing well in the charts and all that. oh well. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

It's alright isn't it but, without wanting to sound like the sad old man that I am, don't all the tunes sound the same? The first track is ace and has a great big umph-y guitar sound but after 5 or six tracks a bit of musical variety wouldn't have gone a miss, man cannot live by Ramones style guitar licks alone. Even "Definitely Maybe" had fast ones and slow ones.
Maybe I'm missing the point of though. Plus "get on your dancing shoes, you sexy little swine" is the first lyric I've laughed at in ages. |

ITS HALF GOOD HALF OK LYRICS ARE SOMETIMES FUNNY BUT NO WAY NEAR AS CLEVER AN OBSERVATION ABOUT EVERY DAY LIFE N THAT AS THE STREETS' DEBUT -
LIVE - ENJOYABLE AT PORTSMOUTH LAST WEDNESDAY NITE BUT WE ARE SCIENTISTS WERE MORE FUN AND HAD MORE TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNES. SAW THE STREETS LAST NITE IN BAAAAAATH. GOOD BUT BEEN BETTER FINSIHED WITH FIT WHICH WAS GOOD BUT NOT AS GOOD AS FINISHING WITH WEAK BECOME HEROES.... 2 NEW SONGS WERE GOOD, COUPLE OF OTHERS A BIT TOO R+B FOR MY TASTE.
OH AND THIS IS ALL IN CAPITALS NOT 'COS I'M SHOUTING JUST COS I CAN'T BE ARSED TO PRESS THE CAPLOCKS BUTTON.
