TOTD - Trust Me by The Streets. Hurrah! He's good again.
I think the bravecaptain board should be closed down until the swine flu pandemic is wiped out. If one of us has had unprotected sex with a pig in the past month, yes Kermit The Frog I am looking at you, then they could pass on the disease to the whole board. Better to be safe than sorry. |
I'm sure we're all wearing face-masks as we use the bravcecaptain board.
Particularly if we're in Clinic. _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |

While we're on a BC board musician tip, the Fanfarlo album is ace, particularly 'Drowning Man' and 'Finish Line'. |
I hadn't noticed it were out but i have now and it came yesterday. It is pretty ace. I also really love the deer tracks album to.

Me & Stephen Hawking by The Manics. Wow, they are 24 again.

Gruff Rhys playing the silent bits between songs off his favourite albums while DJing
but it's really called
Do People Really Still Listen To The Manics?

'21 Guns' by Green Day. By contrast, they're 34 again.. which, admittedly, doesn't sound quite as impressive. _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

Do you listen to anything that's not The Mighty Stef?

yeah, loads
not my fault he released a brilliant new album recently, or that he's not known to most of the people on here (despite at least three of us owning albums by him) - and I've been giving him a bit of a plug on that account.
P.S. for those in England: The Mighty Stef (band) plays The Mothers Ruin, Bristol on May 15 and Gypsy Hotel @ Bardens Boudoir, London on May 16.

just can't be bothered with the likes of the Manics and U2, where a majority of people who like their latest release more than likely wouldn't give it the time of day if they weren't already longtime fans.
it's something like 13 years now since the Manics released a worthwhile album
one thing I'll say against The Mighty Stef is... Stef himself has been associating with Bono recently. Not good. Not to mention his friends, Republic Of Loose supporting U2 here in July.

I thought their last album was inspired (while its predecessor wasn't) but the new single is someting Blink 182 would probably be embarrassed by |

Could the same not be said of Martin Carr right now? That said, I agree that, other than the odd tune, I can take or leave the majority of output since (the monumental) The Holy Bible.

well, it could, unless you're talking about me, as I've not been keeping up the last while. At least, unlike others mentioned above, we don't have his music everywhere.
I'm sure I've liked albums by bands past their best, but how many albums is it gonna take with some people and the Manics! I will say I thought the last SFA album was a bit pants (and they're my favourite band, have been for about a decade now, and I like or love every album that went before it), although I honestly think the new one is good, if not their best ever.
also given up bothering much with Radiohead, Beck, Oasis and others who I've loved in the past. U2 went shit nearly 20 years ago and all. |

I'm obviously completely the opposite, as I've just bought Bob Dylan's 900th studio album or something... Keep the faith!
Anyway, TOTD is something new: I Hate The Way by Polly Scattergood.
A good opening to a good album, if you're in the mode for crazed female singers. And just found out she's playing Dot to Dot = happy Bev. _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |
