The DVD extra to 'Meds', the new album from Placebo, has The Cure and Placebo doing The Cure's 'If Only Tonight We Could Sleep'.

3 minutes of perfection.....

More to the point, is it worth spending an extra tenner to get the DVD version? In Virgin today it was £9.99 for the CD or £19.99 for the special edition. I spent five minutes trying to decide and came away with neither.

The album is..... okay. Starts off very well and seems like a return to form and is certainly a return to their older sound, but it quickly becomes the same old Placebo writing the same song one hundred times. I listened to it twice before it was consigned to history.

It's better than the last couple of their albums though.

Only listened to the album once.....and it didn't strike me as being anything special.... which is a shame. In terms of sound, very much like Sleeping with Ghosts.

Always be wary of any band releasing a new album with lots of press saying it harks back to their early good (and popular) stuff. It's never true and is there to appeal to fans who may not have been impressed by the last album or allows the journos to sound like they know what they're talking about..... (See the last two Cure albums!).

Maybe worth buying the live DVD, Soulmates Never Die instead....a real reminder about how good they can be.
