I love the lips..
but the jury is out on this one. Someone said they've gotten shite since Drozd gave up the heroin recently, brutal enough theory and I dunno if that's teh reason, but definitely something missing on this album, or maybe it will grow on me. Any other opinions? _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

yeah here's mine -
the album's bob on, and the single "yeah yeah yeah song" is the best single of the 2006 already and no mistake.
and as phil jupitus said this morning - "their live shows are the best thing you could see outside of a circus" - can't wait to see them again next month. |

I'll raise you on that - it's possibly the best single ever released. _________________ never ever bloody anything ever |

Your enthusiasm got me listening to the album again and it is better than first impressions suggested, possibly as good or better than Yoshimi..clouds taste metallic is still my favourite though _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

The review in Q gave it four stars and said it takes time to get into (if anyone cares what Q thinks) _________________ we spent a lot of time trying to make our guitars sound like trumpets...then someone told us we could actually use real trumpets |

nice one - it wasn't instant for me either, took a good few listens. there's loads of stuff in there and definitely better than yoshimi i would say. |

Considering how much I love 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots', I'm looking forward to Monday even more now. New Flaming Lips, Erasure acoustic album, Reeves and Mortimer on DVD... I'm going to end up penniless again. _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

Okay, now I've listened to it a few times. It really is a very good album - one of those that gets better and better with every listen. I think the best way to describe it is 'The Soft Bulletin' done in the style of SFA's 'Love Kraft'. That said, however, it is definitely a step forward from 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots'.
Standout tracks for me are 'The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song', 'Free Radicals', 'Haven't Got A Clue' and 'The W.A.N.D.' _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

Not blown after listening to it a couple of times but I'm gonna stick with it and delve deeper. |

Does it appear that I'm the only one to be blown away first time?
Maybe it helps that I wasn't the biggest Soft Bulletin or Yoshimi fan, but to steal a phrase from Mr Walton, I think it's fucking wonderous, and already, quite easily, the best thing I've heard since All Watched Over By Machines Of Loving Grace.

Oh and also, I think half of it could soundtrack a Disney animated feature. The Yeah Yeah Yeah song sounds like it belongs at the start of Madagascar, which can only be a great thing! _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

Think it might be a bit too soft rock in places for me. Yeah Yeah Yeah song is ace though - "If you could watch everybody work while you just lay on your back, Would you do it?" Of course I would. |
