Do me a favour if you get chance(!?!) - record an accoustic EP. You and the old guitar. Anything will do - old stuff you've disregarded, new ideas you thought about eating your frosties.
It'll be great. _________________ Find a job you like, and add five days to every week. |

Surely the last thing the world needs at the moment is another acoustic guitar record. If you throw a brick out of any random window at the moment you're bound to hit at least one troubled troubador who's in the top 40 with a Radio 2 playlisted ballad: Jack Jackson, James Blunt, Liam Frost, Paolo Nutini, Ray Montagne, that bloke from the Sony bouncing balls advert, James Morrison etc. etc. etc. We live in the year 2006 surely we should all be listening to experimental jazz played by aliens like in that bar in Star Wars while we fly around on hoverboards.
Martin - make an album of experimental jazz with aliens. Real aliens though, not just blokes in masks.
Everyone else - lobby your local elected official for more money to be put towards hoverboard research. |

Ha ha, I second that. Nothing wrong with great music being played on acoustic guitars, but man alive, the world is awash with whiney shite. Coffee table records, that unite us all from 8 year old to the 80 year old..utter utter hideous ear molesting shite. Jack Johnson FUCK OFFF _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

Songs played on accoustic guitars are still seen as musical shorthand for "meaning it (man)". If Jack Johnson had used synthesisers or those keyboards with a guitar strap, like Howard Jones had, on his last album then even though the songs and the sentiments expressed by them would have been exactly the same, I suspect people would have thought he was faking it. People are wankers, apart from me - I'm very wise.
Guitars are still ace though, I had to listen to the Paolo Nutini album (see poorly thoughtout review
here
) and although it was very dull I reckon that if I saw him play live then it'd be good and after a couple of drinks I want him to write a song about me.
One last thing, while we're on the subject of guitar straps. One of the guitarists from Peter, Bjorn and John has the best guitar strap ever, its in the shape of a lightening bolt and makes him look like superhero. |
