Didn't The Boo's say a similar thing just before they were dropped / split up?
Or is that just my imagination having a riot?
Still, the fact that the album didn't reach the charts and only I went to see them in Sheffield doesn't bode well.

i know i'm quite drunk and i've just been to see broken social scene play one of the best gigs i've seen but hope of the states are fucking shit. it's like darren day tunes over generic indie cack.

I thought Hope Of The States' only fan was Jon Earls on the tellytext, he never shuts up about them |

thats all a bit harsh i think. I am/was a big fan of hope of states and will be sad if they are done. They were a lot better that shit like razorlight and kasabian. Broken Social Scene are ace though. I saw them at lollapalooza and they put on a good show. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

I bought the first Hope Of The States CD from HMV but when I got home there was no disc in the box!
I never quite got round to going back to the shop for an exchange and consequently am able to add nothing more of any relevance to this debate. _________________ we spent a lot of time trying to make our guitars sound like trumpets...then someone told us we could actually use real trumpets |

Well I have both albums and I fucking love them and I'm gutted they're not playing live again because, er, I fucking love them.

I definitely don't rate 'em either, but I do like Broken Social Scene, looking forward to seeing them for the first time this weekend at Electric Picnic in Ireland.. _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

I've only heard a couple of their songs, seemed alright to me but now they are no more:
http://www.clickmusic.com/articles/2559.html
Would've been much cooler if they'd announced it live on telly or on stage though instead of a press release.
It's odd what constitutes success these days, there was an article about the Arctic Monkeys in NME last week saying their the debut album hadn't really lived up to initial expectations. They decided to only release 3 singles from it, rather than bleeding it dry all year and promoting it to people who only buy albums when they win Brit Awards, so it only spent 6 months in the top 40, unlike the Kaiser Chiefs album which hung around for year. Plus their last single only got to number 4 in the charts so they're now yesterdays news. |

i really like the new album. it is different from the "the lost riots," but it is solid. bravecaptain is somewhat responsible for me gettin into them. there was a martin carr jukebox article in the 90s in nme or melody maker where he listed his favorite albums. i checked out the manics after he listed "the holy bible" as one of his top picks. i discovered hope of the states because they were touring with the manics. the rest is history. sadly, so are hots. |

They were approximately 100,000,000,000 million times better than the Arctic Monkeys.
God Damn it.
