That's cool Adam, the stuff about Interscope is interesting. I'd have taken "Thanks For All The Aids" off the album and sold out to The Man instantly in his position but I am a money hungry man with no morals who would sell his own Gran for the right price. Send me a private message with bids for my Gran if you're interested.

Thanks, John... I would have done the same [relating to Interscope, not my gran!]. The things is, Adam is even less likely to compromise than the man whose ex-pseudonym graces this website; that's [one of the reasons] why we love them, isn't it? It's probably one of the reasons they love each other. Twisted Evil

I think that - in the long run - it's a good thing that Adam and Interscope parted company. He'll be able to find his own level now, and once that story is well and truly yesterday's papers, people will start taking him on the undoubted strength of his music and ideas.

Obviously sticking up for what you believe in is to be applauded, unless it's playing Steven Gerrard out on the wing so he can sulk, that should be frowned upon.

The plus side of the interscope thing is that the album sounds really lush and ace cos of the producers he's been able to get in. The downside of not being on a major label is that people who would otherwise be interested in Mr ATD won't get to hear the record, none of the record shops in Liverpool had it in on the day of release and I had to cancel my order with HMV online cos they didn't have any copies. Obviously it doesn't bother me how many copies peoples records sell but surely there's something wrong with a system where the Akira The Don album currently rests at number 23,000-something in the Amazon chart and this album is in the top 700:

Thanks for making me click on that link, John!

It is wrong that 'When We Were Young' and 'distractions' will - probably - get to fewer people than a Billy Idol album of festive cheer [who would want to listen to it? old punks? [no] the blue rinse brigade? [no]... it's bafflement in CD form.

You know what, though, John?

I can cope,

I'm dope Smile

i think its funny that swing when you're winning has sold more than sing when youre winning. I do not think its funny that Keane are on that list.

It's bad but it's not that bad, most of the stuff in the top 10 is well regarded, I would have thought the top 10 would have been Girls aloud, westlife, take that all the way..

It's middle of the road alright, but sure that's what the masses want.

Okay, I finally got around to buying "When We Were Young" today. Thankfully, Virgin Megastore seem happy to stock several copies of it. I'll post my thoughts when I've had a listen. Smile

I think you're in for a treat, melz; but it is one of those albums that polarizes opinion!

I'm impressed. Very Happy

The front cover, I agree, is a little odd. A friend of mine said it looked more like the sleeveart for a heavy metal CD than a rap album. That aside, the songs are fantastic. I loved Clones when it was out as a single, and now I'm really enjoying "Oh! (What A Glorious Thing)" and "Thanks For All The AIDS". Somehow I was expecting to hear "I Love Living In The Future" (or whatever it was called) on there. But I wasn't disappointed at all.

I think ATD must have killed some family members of the bloke who reviewed it for Stylus.

Turns out that ATD is mates with my mate Dayrl AKA 'ddd', and also with my band's manager, Sarah. What a small world eh? Wink

We recorded an Xfm session last week, I was so excited about it, but then it turned out to be pretty boring really - just in and out and we only met the sound engineer. Still, cool to be on Xfm - shame we didn't have time to learn a cover of 'Xfm Is Ace'!

It's broadcast on Thursday - Fanfarlo recorded in session thing. John Kennedy played a demo of my other band, Wolfie too last week, he's my new favorite DJ!
