Nottingham has a Social too, you know, if you want to make it a treble...

I really wanted to go to the Social gig in London but it turned out I couldn't as I had to go and drive a van around for ages instead. Someone who did go please tell us all how it went!

'Twas good. Martin and Mary were in fine form and the new songs are lovely. I really want to hear them performed with a big, meaty band so hopefully that will happen sometime soon. The only downer was that there were a few people stood around talking near me during the gig and, as the Social is a tiny place, it was distracting and irritating. People should be banned from talking during gigs, unless I'm the person who's talking, obviously. There's more about the gig here:

http://www.akirathedon.com/2008/08/ey-la-martin-carr-the-social/

Stuff from other threads:

Burial should win the Mercury Prize because it's the best album which has been released in the past 89 months. It's a work of actual, real life genius and time has not diminished its menace and beauty.

Tune of The Day: 'Gold Tan, Peach and Grey' by Bodies of Water. I love them and want them to hold me tight and protect me from all that is bad in the world.
