Ok, this thing I've been writing about on my website has just gone live.

It's going to be a monumental task but I couldn't resist trying something new.

I've got some stuff to do and then tonight I'll be writing a piece on the site explaining my reasons etc

What's the difference between a Supporter and an Investor?

As long as it means the new songs get released, I'm in!

Bandstocks seems a bit like Dragons Den so that's got to be a good thing. The only downside is we don't get to see that grumpy Scottish bloke shouting at Martin because he doesn't know what his 4th quarter earnings were in 2003.

There's an interview about Bandstocks here:

http://www.thequietus.com/articles/martin-carr-tells-us-about-new-bandstocks-venture

I like The Quietus, the article on there about Manchester is worth a read too: "...the problem is it’s never been harder to be shit. save for cheap chicken and the hard-working gordon brown, everything is great nowadays; or, if not great, then genius: girls aloud, glasvegas, amy winehouse – the female mick hucknall; think about it, half-decent soul voice in a unusual white body… even charity shops are a beacon of cool."

On an unrelated note, does anyone know what the pattern is on the globe thing on the front cover of Giant Steps? Is it a Clockwork Orange thing?

Interesting plan, this could work and I reckon it's worth 10 of your English pounds any day.

Also, re: the Facebook post...... Congratulations on being the only other person to mention Marillion Laughing

Due to that I stuck a post up about this on their forum. It's all grist to the mill, I know a few people from there downloaded Distractions so we'll see.
Also like the bit about demanding more Sitar! Although Marillion's was a pre-order there were still people demanding to see the accounts and wanting to know where every penny went! I'd want Glockenspiel anyway Rolling Eyes

You can still invest. Every penny helps. See below.

can i buy bandstocks if i am not a uk resident?

no, but you can ask a uk resident aged 18 or over to open an account on your behalf (as your trustee) as long as that person takes full responsibility for the account and everything that happens through it. the trustee would need to complete the site registration himself or herself and any payments for bandstocks would need to be made by that person and the contractual arrangement would be between bandstocks and the trustee. if the registered investor wants the beneficiary (i.e. the non-uk resident) to get the name credit for a bandstocks investment this can be done by letting the beneficiary choose the username (which is what we use for all credits), but the trustee's full name must still be entered as the registered investor. if you are thinking of opening an investor account on behalf of a non uk resident, please make sure you read the user contract first.[/b]

Right, I'm in.

Bought two stocks - pretty sure my copy of Everything's Alright Forever is 2nd hand, so he can have another tenner for that!

Bit depressing this doesn't seem to have taken off if you look at the amount sold... hey, anyone looking for a last minute Chirstmas present?
