It's my album of the year so far.

meanwhile.... I heard the new New Order album and it's just really.... really..... "normal" and "middle of the road".
Barneys lyrics are still hilarious, but this album is really lacking, and I'm really really disappointed. _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

"Something glorious is about to happen..."
I've been listening to
Silent Alarm
by Bloc Party and I quite like it. Maybe 8/10 after first listen. It probably won't be my album of the year. Still haven't heard anything by British Sea Power though. Worth a purchase? _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

i cant get into new british music at the moment at all...
with nme and q hyping up every new band that comes out, i'm finding it hard to keep up with what's good and what's not.

after 2/3 listens the BSP album is far too samey for it to hold my attention. I'd get their first album over this one given the choice.
The Queens Of The Stone Age album is shit too.
I'm finding no music at all is doing it for me lately. Maybe LCD Soundsystem in it's ropey hit and miss kind of way... _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

I love that album, all the reviews were a saying it was a bit of a let down but I think its great. I hadn't heard 'Movement' before but it has been rocking my world for the 24 hours.
That album by 'The Game' sounds like it could be alright but it could just be another Dr Dre album-by-numbers. |

With my finger on the pulse, the best album I've bought so far this year has been Leonard Cohen's Greatest Hits - £5, can't complain.
I have a feeling it will be one of those really annoying Greatest Hits CDs that gradually becomes almost redundant in my collection as I end up buying the artists real albums... Anyone like Leonard anyway who can recomend any next purchases? _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |

I haven't heard anything from this New Order album yet... hmmm, perhaps I could try to find this single even though Kinkster always uses a lot of superlatives when he talks about music.
The Queens of the Stone Age are shite and I wasn't too excited about the Killers album either...
I heard some LCD Soundsystem tunes and was quite disappointed. The new single 'daft punk is playing at my house' is horrible shite, 'movement' isn't that much better, but at least 'yr city's a sucker' is pretty cool...
My best album of the year (well, the best I've bought this year) is Magio by an excellent Finnish band called Liekki.
What's the new Mercury Rev album like? Worth buying? _________________

If you like the idea of All Is Dream part 2 yes. Otherwise, no.

i love the lcd soundsystem album. it wasn't what i was expecting after the 12"s but, you know me, that made it even better. i can't wait to see what he does next. you are right tho' tommy, 'yr citys a sucker' is ace!
i went to see the silent league last week. i loved the show, hundreds of instruments coalesced into a mighty roar. the record is a lightweight version of that but still good.
