interesting.
I prefer AFM to AWOBMOLG, it sounds more outward looking, more confident. Also more political. I thought that All Watched over...sounded like more of a step back towards the Fingertip Saint albums, quieter and less ambitious.
Distractions I love, though I really couldn't say whether I think it's better than AFM. _________________ (and gillworm! she's so funny!) |

AFM is my favourite bravecaptain album. I wasn't too keen on the first two albums, I either wanted carbon copies of Kingsize or albums full of "Heartbreaker" style "my band's broke up and life is rubbish" ballads. I didn't get either so I sulked.
But then I heard "Better Living..." which made everything alright again. And AFM which made it even better. Every album should start with the "The Sound of Witchita".
That album reminds me of walking to Colliers Wood tube station in the depths of winter. You have never experienced true misery until you have walked to Colliers Wood tube station on a cold winters morning. |

How strange John, I was working in Sutton and Merton at the time of AFM so it reminds me of Colliers Wood Station and Wimbledon! _________________ we spent a lot of time trying to make our guitars sound like trumpets...then someone told us we could actually use real trumpets |

I loved the fingertip saint stuff myself, it may not have all been great, but the good bits were most very very good _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

Actually Amazon is a bit crazy: it seems to think "Brave Captain" and "Bravecaptain" are two seperate artists, as the search results are completely different... (It's the 'all two words big B+C' you have to search on to find AFM - if you can't get it anywhere else. _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |
