Take That were rubbish only ever liked because of looks - when the songwriter went solo and didn't have the others, no one liked him. East 17 are the only bearable boyband ever. 'Alright' was a choon back in the day!

I was watching some dodgy TV show about the perils of fame last night and they showed footage of "911" being mobbed by fans in Japan, apparently they were huge over there, their albums got to number 1. Plus they had 2 number one singles in the UK. |
i can't say 911 were huge here. i've never herad of them.
i mean, neither thire song nor thire name.
it took me a half an hour to see who they were on internet.
the thing is, i think, japan has got a population of over 120million.
and some cities are too populous.
it's easier to sell the tickets of the concert at higher price.
any band could be huge and any band still remains underground here.
my tune of the day is;
theme song to cex - cex
i've just listened to a couple of tracks of his latest album which didn't sound good to my ears. so i need to listen that tune. |

What makes a group successful is a mixture of many things. I don't think it's that simple to say because Gary Barlow was a failure as an artist it means TT weren't liked for the music.
I liked them because of their music. It's true, they did look really good, probably best boy band I've known of (please refrain from posting old photos of their ugly style, style and looks aren't the same! Haha!) and that probably did get them some fans but it's hard to think that's the only reason.
I think for example that Westlife members look much better than NSync but the latter have done better overall.
And they weren't rubbish...shuv it!
"Outside is raining but inside is cold"...ahahaha...from "Alright" I believe...or maybe it was called "Steam"? East 17 anyway.
My brother once borrowed the E17 album that had "Gold" on it, the singles were good/alright, the rest so so.

E17 had some great songs. Steam and Deep have also stood the test of time. There is a bit of revisionism about Take That these days, you know where people bang on about Back For Good being an all-time classic blah blah blah, but for my money East 17 had way better songs, and slightly more edge, I mean coming on morning TV and announcing that you had no problem doing maybe 12 yokes in one night..pure class |
Promoting drugs is not class, whatever NME says. NME are such hypocrites, first they diss artists who are 'boring' for not being rock 'n' roll enough but then they seem to have a problem with people like Pete Doherty.
Anyway, I liked Take That and still do, so I'm biased. However, any group that wore hats the way East17 did cannot be taken seriously...hahaha.
Back For Good is just a better song than House Of Love, still, both songs are much better than anything N'Sync or Backstress Boys came out with, in my opinion. Maybe because TT and E17 wrote the songs themselves so it was 'real' on some level...I guess especially E17 were good with writing about things that seemed to matter to them.

I agree that promoting drugs isn't class, but being in a boyband and then going live on breakfast TV/or was it radio and just casually letting in slip that you don't see a problem with taking 12 pills in a night is pure class! well the sort of thing i find class anyway _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

I think it was "outside it's raining but inside it's wet"
Which is actually a good lyric for a raunchy slow burner like Steam! _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons

think you might be right.
East 17 were easily better than those girly backing singers/dancers known as Take That |

Why are so many supposedly bad things tagged as being 'girly' in the English language.
Take That consisted of five men, but even if they'd been girls...big deal. I especially dislike the expression 'big girl's blouse', which I thought was a self made expression the first time I heard it.

Cos women are fundamentally evil and people should be reminded of this constantly.
Tune of the day: Song For Guy by Elton John
Simple Minds and Pele are both going to be performing at the opening ceremony of the world cup, not together though I assume. It's a measure of how rubbish my week has been that this is the best news I've heard in the past 7 days.
True Fact! Simple Minds were the first band I ever saw live. In 1991. In Aberdeen. I've always been painfully unhip. |

Good for you. In my early days I saw Simply Red, Wet Wet Wet.
And Thunder.

I kind of agree but kind of disagree. I agree that it is worng to denigrate things perceived as weak as girly or feminine or pansy or whatever, but another part of me says that phrases like 'big girl's blouse' enrich the language, and that's the thing about political correctness. It's a mine field that ultimately stunts expression when everyone is watching their tongue and some people would have you believe that Shakespeare is being racist when he refers to the blackness of a character's heart. So with big girl's blouse, it's a relatively harmless phrase, and we don't need to go deep into what it may or may not signify _________________ www.myspace.com/storkboychoons
