Yep i'm joking, always remember that 99% of the stuff i write on here is pure nonsense. But 1% is THE TRUTH. Disappointed Ghana went out, Ukraine will be the only team gate crashing the old school big football nations quarter final party |

Adriano got a yellow card when he should've gotten a penalty though, it all evens out most times. |
hmm. Then you must also think that Asamoah also deserved a penalty when he got sent off...? Adriano had already lost the ball so he ran at the goalkeeper and jumped. And the way he looked at the referee as soon as he had landed on the ground gave away it really... Definitely a dive in my opinion, but of course I might be wrong. So yeah, Adriano deserved a yellow card for that, he didn't even complain about it so I think the referee made the right decision there.
Asamoah's sending off was a bit embarrassing, a bit of a desperate attempt to save Ghana, but still quite embarrassing. At least he didn't make it any more dramatic than necessary though, and just calmly accepted the referee's decision and walked away.
Anyway, despite of the final score (3-0 for Brazil) I thought it was a really good game. I wish the referee hadn't accepted Adriano's offside goal at the end of the first half, then the game would have probably been even better! I think Ghana were quite good actually, they got the ball inside Brazil's penalty box a few times with some very beautiful passing and dribbling combinations, but the last shot was always just awful.
Looks like they learned nothing from the Czech Rep game then - they had enough great chances to score 10 goals in that game but they "only" managed to score 2.
Brazil's defense was surprisingly vulnerable, and I think they'll have a lot of trouble when they play against Spain or France. If Ghanaian and Brazilian strikers had changed sides today, Ghana would have won the game easily - they should just take some finishing lessons from the Brazilians.
Still, it was a nice game to watch, even though my "favourite" team lost and I'm still a bit annoyed by the offside goal. Brazil were of course very good too (except for their defense) and if they hadn't already won the World Cup so many times before I'd probably like to see them win it now. Ghana have nothing to be ashamed of though, 3-0 today was a bit harsh for them because with a bit of luck they could have even won, but in the end I think Brazil were that little bit better.

Wow, complete silence here. On the Embrace board the English are losing it and threads are getting locked every second.
I will now rejoice in Italy...WOOOHOOOOOO!!! (Even though I fell asleep and missed the third goal)
And cry for Argentina:

We could have beaten Portugal if we hadn't played ridiculous football shackled to a ridiculous system..
Why didnt we get at them? Look at France against Brazil. Continued to take the game to them even when 1-0 up.
Its no good hanging on for a "heroic" 0-0 with 10 men against a team who showed very little ambition throughout the game.
Good riddance Erikson. Steve Mcclaren to take over though. How inspiring.
And I hope that little Fucker C. Ronaldo gets seriously injured pre season. (Great player though) _________________ we spent a lot of time trying to make our guitars sound like trumpets...then someone told us we could actually use real trumpets |

I don't mind Christano Ronaldo going up to the ref and asking someone to be sent. Obviously its not a very nice thing to do but is infinitely preferable to standing on someones groin.
I thought England would eventually put together a decent performance but by the end it was clear that Sven didn't really have a clue and the squad didn't have enough decent players. We think we're the Real Madrid of the international game but really we're Newcastle United. And at least Newcastle have reached a couple of finals while I've been alive.
Without wanting to sound like a merchant of doom I think that could have been England's last big chance for a long time at an international tournament. We haven't got much strength in depth (had we got through our second striker would have been a player that Eriksson had never seen play) now and I can't think of many great young English players coming through at the moment. Stewart Downing wouldn't have got anywhere near the squad a few years ago. At least I can focus my attention on the Wrexham vs Liverpool game now. |

Is this the deal, this is why the English hate Ronaldo so much after the game? Because he went up to the ref asking for action as his team mate was down?
It really feels like having nothing to blame so you blame that. Referees don't give cards because someone else tells them.

Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo are team mates. Call me old fashioned I think any player who goes up to a referee and asks for an opponent player to be booked or sent off is a disgrace
There is an element to the game now that I hate. The cheating and gamesmanship.
As a parks league defenderIi receive and give out a lot of stick but NO ONE rolls around as if they've been shot like a lot of the over paid arseholes in todays game. _________________ we spent a lot of time trying to make our guitars sound like trumpets...then someone told us we could actually use real trumpets |

Yeah, there was a lot of cheating.
And you are old fashioned if you can't see what today's football is about. They play in those teams for money and their team mates change all the time and they are competitive...so they've gonna give their all to win that single game.
If I was a player I wouldn't go around begging the referee to get others booked but it's not such a big deal. Maybe Ronaldo thought his club team mate had done something really horrible to his team mate in that game.

Firstly, I can only laugh when people say Ronaldo shouldn't have done [whatever] to a teammate, as if the Portugal player on the ground (who'd just received a stamp from Rooney) wasn't also a teammate of Ronaldo's.
Secondly, what evidence is there of what it was Ronaldo even said to the referee? Seems to be only speculation at this point, and we've yet to hear any claims of unsporting behaviour by Ronaldo from the England team.
Thirdly, how is it that someone allegedly complaining about violent conduct is villified while the player commiting the nasty foul isn't getting the same/worse criticism? Ronaldo is just the most (un)popular scapegoat.

he winked at the bench, which is clearly evidence of some devilish intent.
hopefully english players will never stoop to the depths of gamesmanship
