empasis on the 'nearly always'
the ones he's scored have been as good as any penalties you're likely to see
John Aldridge is another one with a good record, with that one major blemish to his name |

Dave Beasant probably agrees with you |

Jan Molby scored a penalty in the first Liverpool game I ever went to, we beat Arsenal 2-1. I've still got a photo of it somewhere, it'll appear in my autobiography one day. I'm amazed Roger Hunt only scored one penalty for us. |

is Hunt still the club's record goalscorer? if only one of them was a penalty, that's phenomenal... not that I recall many Ian Rush penalties... |

i think i remember that molby penalty. david seaman went the right way but got nowhere near. why can't every penalty be like that? surely if you practice enough it could become natural to smash the ball in the top corner, even under pressure.
looks like tommy smith was the main penalty taker in the 60s. strange how some strikers are rubbish at them, or don't take them. ian rush missed one against charlton in the first match i went to at anfield. he's top scorer overall for the club, but hunt still has most league goals i think.
can't decide which seems more plausible - that gallas would actually threaten to score an own goal if forced to play or that chelsea would make it up if he hadn't. can't disagree with the 'lacking class' comment though. |

Jan Molby's played against Arsenal while David Seaman was their keeper? sounds strange now... although I have seen Jan play for Liverpool at Anfield (some amazing passing from him and Ronnie that day), so, I'm sure you're right |

It was before the David Seaman era, I think it was John Lukic, it was the 30th August 1986 It was Rush's last season before he went to Italy.

bonkers night of international football...
Northern Ireland 3-2 Spain
(Healy hat-trick)
San Marino 0 - 13 Germany
(five for Podolski, only one for Klose)
Crouch only scoring one for England, even if it was the winner
Scotland winning away
Finland 1-1 Portugal
France 3-1 Italy (...get in )
and I have to wonder if Andorra scored against Israel from a goalkick (with the whole Israel team, 'keeper included, presumably camped in the Andorra half) |

100 PWSTK - NO.18: DAVID FAIRCLOUGH
"With seemingly limitless reserves of energy, Fairclough was humorously dubbed the Bionic Carrot and remained a lethal weapon in the Liverpool armory but with players of such calibre as Keegan, Toshack, Heighway, Johnson and Waddle all battling for a place in the starting line-up competition for places was tough and a regular place in Paisley’s eleven could never be guaranteed."
Waddle? |

Ben Thatcher's Manchester City team-mates made a sticker that read "I am Ben Thatcher, Man City Hard man" and attached it to his car, which the defender failed to notice as he drove off from training. (Daily Mirror)
granted, all I know about this, is, the story comes from a tabloid, but, if true... it's all a big joke, innit |
